I know the story. "Some Jews" were complicit but not all Jews. Punishing one for the acts of another is a violation of the rule of law. This principle is also the rock on which Jesus based his teachings - "Do unto others/treat others as you would be treated"

If you do not want to be punished for the actions of others, then do not do this to others.

Your last paragraph misses the point.

The golden rule isn't there to help me avoid being treated poorly.

It's there as an indication of how I should treat others. Period.

It shows that how I am treated isn't part of the calculation of how I am directed to treat others.

In any case they both say that the Jews and Christians have to believe in Allah, which is silly since that's not the name of their favorite deity.

 

Allah is their name for God. Some Christians use "God". Some (such as the Pope) use "Deus", as Latin is important. Hebrew has other names for God, which are used by Judaism.

With all the languages and religions based on the Bible that we have (now and historically), it seems a little crazy to me that we should think that each word for God implies a whole new and different supreme supernatural being.

 

Yahweh really gets ticked off when people give him an alias.

So, if you believe in the Bible then you should say that you worship Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews and the God of the armies. Is that your God or isn't it? If it is then that's his name so use it because he said that's the name he wants people to use when referring to him.

 

Muslims believe that is the God they are following, as revealed by the prophets and the Bible - the most recent and important prophet being Muhammad.

Christians use God, Lord, and Yahweh, at least. The Pope uses other names, since Latin is important.

 

Over and over we rewrite the Bible and give it a new version name.

After doing that so many times, the idea of worrying about how God's name is spelled hits me as a little ridiculous.

Plus, there is the problem that taking verses out of context and then missing the real point of what is written.
