Jesus does love football more than stopping poverty and war.

The fact that you can't do this shows that your religion is a delusional belief: let's see your extraordinary evidence that some invisible magic 2000 year-old living-dead man ("Jesus") will magically let me avoid a magical invisible bad place ("hell"), and go the a magic invisible good place ("heaven") up in the sky, if I simply BELIEVE in said magic invisible man.

    Anti-god = pro-science.
We don't believe in your talking snake, talking donkey, talking burning bush, nor your 2000 year-old talking invisible dead guy who lives up in a magic/bigoted/racist invisible kingdom in the sky.

So one of the things that your particular invisible friend in the sky can NOT do is provide a courtroom level of evidence that he's more real than Zeus, than Wotan, than Krishna, than Chuck Norris (PBUH), etc.

You are right, in general - but science does indeed show that the god of the Bible is not real.....science shows that the Bible is wrong about the flat earth, about the 6000+- age of the earth (geneologies from Adam to Jesus = 4000 years), about the sun revolving around the earth, etc.
Time to pick a different invisible friend in the sky, methinks.

It is to Modern Secular Humanists, and it SHOULD be to all thinking people!....it's the same standard that society uses to, even, put a person in prison for one day for committing a crime. Think about that.

I USED to worship Jesus, but then I realized that I should worship Jesus' father instead, THEN, years later, the final truth was finally revealed to me.

    Well said

That superstitious, childish crap has been drilled into their brains since they were toddlers ... so it's not easy for many of them to shake the delusions...

    As a former Christian.....I did.
Not trying to brag, but just to point out that anyone can learn to finally move beyond the fear that religions put into one's heart (torture in "hell", obedience, submission, etc.)

FreedomSeeker, you protest too much, friend.

Modern Secular Humanists have nothing to say about the evidence required for belief in deity: those who believe in God simply smile at your silly nonsense.

Break the 1st Amendment, son, and you will go to jail if you interfere with the right to belief (which protects yours by the way as well).

Both my parents went to Catholic schools ... and are pretty religious.

And they sent me to one thru eighth grade.

But (thankfully) I excelled at athletics, so they decided to send me to the much larger local public high school with the superior football and basketball programs.

I value religious freedom, and the 1st amendment.
Jesus didn't, however - he was all about being the thought-police - "think like me or you'll go to the burning hell that my old man set up!!", is basically what Jesus is all about. A sick, sadistic, self-absorbed man - clearly not worthy of my worship.

Show me Modern Secular Humanists that DON'T require a courtroom level of evidence to believe in a particular "god". You can't. Sam Harris does, obviously.

Sorry, mom, dad, I just can't buy the whole "it literally turns into the blood of Christ" nonsense.

That's because their god/Jesus has ill-equipped them to deal rationally, logically, intellectually, with these issues.

Good thing your parents weren't like the terrible terrible parents in the Bible - who heeded the uber-narcissist Jesus' hateful advice to just DUMP their children! "25 Many people were traveling with Jesus. He said to them, 26 “If you come to me but will not leave your family, you cannot be my follower. You must love me more than your father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters....." - Luke 14.

You might be an orphan if they lived back in the day.

I believe that books with dragons in them (LOTR, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Bible) are fairy tales. Try to prove me otherwise.

But I give them credit - they actually raised a child that was smart enough to, unlike most people, see religion for what it actually is.
