In terms of murdering masses of people, no. But in terms of causing havoc and misery for millions of people for years, yes. It was unregulated big business in the stock market that caused the Great Depression of 1929. More recently, it was deregulated big banking institutions who caused the Great Recession of 2008, causing several million Americans to lose their homes. I don't disagree that many governments have historically been nasty and destructive. But both governments and businesses ultimately reflect the personal values of those who run them. Both can be magnificent and beneficial to society and those who comprise it, or selfish & destructive to the same. Neither are inherently evil, but both have the potential to become evil.

 

Capitalism guarantees few winners and many losers. Societies need many winners. Capitalism fails there. Do you understand?
