Jihadis face execution without trial in Syrian jails as Assad says foreign ISIS members will be hanged

Jihadis in prisons in Syria could face execution without trial after President Bashar al-Assad said he was setting up special terror courts, where the prisoners will be subjected to 'Syrian law'. Membership of Islamic State (IS) is a hanging offence in Syria and the brutal dictator has now said foreign members of IS in the country will be brought to justice.

Thousands of prisoners have been secretly executed inside the infamous Saydnaya Prison near Damascus, according to Amnesty International. Thousands more are said to have died there through torture and starvation.

I've got no problem with this.

Arabs play by arab rules and that often means a brutal dictator is needed to maintain order.

ISIS is a death cult and so Assad should oblige them-problem solved, problem staying solved.

Not the way we do things, but if you join a terrorist organization don't expect to garner much sympathy from the rest of the world.

Uhhh, you're watching too much MSM. Assad is not a dictator. He was voted in by a large majority and with a large turnout.

As for the terrorists, those poor things having to suffer for little things like beheadings, etc. It was a Christian genocide, but Christians are evil anyway, so I guess they deserved to be killed.

This video is very graphic. But look, if it makes the terrorists happy, what the heck. I mean look at the smiles on their faces, and as for the kid. He was sick anyway, so I guess better dead.

Not going to watch the video because I have been following the Syrian conflict closely since it began, and yes saw many terrible things including crucifixion, wrapping prisoners in det cord, etc.

See below, he meets the criteria of dictator. He's better than ISIS for sure...

Born and raised in Damascus, Assad graduated from the medical school of Damascus University in 1988 and began to work as a doctor in the Syrian Army. Four years later, he attended postgraduate studies at the Western Eye Hospital in London, specialising in ophthalmology. In 1994, after his elder brother Bassel died in a car crash, Bashar was recalled to Syria to take over Bassel's role as heir apparent. He entered the military academy, taking charge of the Syrian military presence in Lebanon in 1998.

Political scientists have characterized the Assad family's rule of Syria as a personalist dictatorship.[2][3][4][5][6] On 10 July 2000, Assad was elected as President, succeeding his father, who died in office a month prior. In the 2000 and subsequent 2007 election, he received 99.7% and 97.6% support, respectively, in non-competitive, non-democratic elections.[7][8][9] On 16 July 2014, Assad was sworn in for another seven-year term after winning another non-competitive, non-democratic election.[10][11][12] The election was held only in areas controlled by the Syrian government during the country's ongoing civil war and was criticized by the UN, the Syrian opposition and its Western countries,[13][14] while Syria's allies stated that the election was "free and fair".[15][16][17] The Assad government describes itself as secular,[18] while some political scientists have claimed that the government exploits sectarian tensions in the country and relies upon the Alawite minority to remain in power.[19][20]

Anyone can write whatever they want on Wikipedia. I knew Syrians that were raving about what Assad did for the country. It's not just the Alawites that want Assad, it's the Christians who were running to him for protection and all the minorities and together they come to more than the Sunnis. Once the Sunnis though had a taste of the jihadists and their sharia law, they too joined Assad and his secular and all inclusive Syria.

I recall Kerry saying he wouldn't recognize the election unless Assad didn't run, since he knew the people would vote for Assad. The excuse Kerry gave was that there was a war going on, while at the same time a war was raging in Ukraine, and yet he recognized that election even though anyone who represented the people in South and East of Ukraine was thrown in trash cans and under threat not to run.

Here's a video of the American observers of the Syrian election at the UN. If you get on 4:00 you can hear them for yourself.

Yes I recall that Assad had widespread support from minorities and not just in Latakia.

But his father was the defacto dictator, and it was passed on to Bashar.

He's educated, his wife is American, he is a physician-and he's what Syria needs, imo.

Clearly, that culture is not ready for a truly free, fair, peaceful, and democratic system of government. In the absence of a strong dictator, there would be chaos and genocide, and I believe AQ/ISIS types would eventually prevail. But not until the country was in ruins (more so than it is now) and the genocide was complete.

We don't have to like Assad. But we should be realistic. It's not a perfect world, and we cannot impose our culture on Syria. Best we can do is recognize the lesser of evils, and that is Assad.

Agree fully. With the exception of some of the Cartels, ISIS is the closest to straight up evil I've seen in my lifetime. Even if they are all being hung-thats far better than what they tried to impose on the world.

Agree. If Assad hangs them all, so be it. They are beheaders, terrorists, rapists, and believe in committing genocide.

And I agree that the cartels are right on the same level. Different motive, but the same level of inhumanity.

In Middle Eastern Politics, it's not freedom that is valued above everything else it's revenge (payback).

I agree too. I have friends who have 'encountered' them in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, as many others probably do too, and they are just animals. In fact calling them animals is being unkind to animals.

No great loss. Let Assad deal with them in his own way which is probably more humane than what they have inflicted on others.

Yup-some of the worst things I've ever heard about. You read about the Nazi's or Khmer Rouge but its was still something that happened a long time ago...and then you watch the news and see a defacto state rising, with our President ignoring the problem (JV team), as they made a state with its own law, currency, etc and they decree that gays should no longer be thrown from the 3rd floor-but rather the 2nd floor so they lived longer to be kicked to death.

I remember they made a multi story building into a real life "video game" where their children went floor to floor, shooting people in the head-it even had video game graphics for the score, etc.

Some of the worst things I have ever heard too and some people have no idea what troops have to encounter over there. It's enough to send any sane person crazy.

Too many people seem happy to send the troops to fight in abhorrent circumstances and then the first to want to hang them if they crack ie Gallagher and his pic.

These ME animals don't adhere to the Geneva Convention but our troops are expected to dish out cheese and crackers and warm hugs to them no matter what.

I have worked in EMS, and medicine for years, and I have many close friends who worked in Law enforcement, Fire, and the military since Bill Clinton was President.

What always struck me-was how words on paper, or even pics don't match real life.

What Im trying to say is that what happened was in reality worse than any picture, or recollection or words on a page can capture.

    Bad stuff.

Syria has been like this since 1947.. since they overthrew the democratic Syrian government.

Why isn't Assad executing Syrian members of ISIS?

Keep in mind our Democrats love for the former Saddam Hussein. When he was captured they raised hell that he got hung.

Did I ever ask you to comment on the woman who was beheaded like a low down dog as she pleaded that she was innocent? I can show you photos by PM I suppose. They threw her down on a city street and essentially hacked her head off.

Kill them where you find them, a plauge and a scourge. Exterminate them. They will not have any issue, doing the same to you.
