Actually, in 2019 he called for the top tax rate to be 50%. Below $400k, he pretty much agreed with Trump. I guess he upped that to 59.8% in 2020 but also raised his proposal for middle class too. And, of course that is just federal tax. Add State and local taxes and you'd probably be right on the money with 80%. He does want to go after high long term cap gains to which I agree somewhat. It needs to be done carefully or he'd kill investments which would kill growth in the economy.
By the way, he also proposed to bump up everyone's tax bill.

In this partisan environment, I would wager that pretty much anything he did would be considered good by Republicans if done by a Republican. Obamacare was a prime example of this. It was Romneycare first, then it became evil incarnate when Obama followed the same model. Obama failed liberals in that he never even tried for single payer.

50-60% is absolutely outrageous. Even people making 300-400k a year shouldn’t eat that much tax. That’s pure theft.

    Good God!!!!!

how about killing the executive orders that hurt the fossil fuel industry?

The Democrat way: enact rules that hurt the avg folk and then send taxpayer dollars to those that were hurt and claim to be helping

Democrat voters did this to us

Isn’t this just an advancement on tax credits claimed at tax filing?

This needs to stay a true tax credit. You have to work in order to get it. Just giving free money to people who don't work only encourages them not to work. In fact, it encourages them to make babies as their job. A single mother of 4 young children can earn $2400 per month, having another kid gives her $3000 per month in income or $36,000 per year. This is good enough income to live on so they don't need a job, don't need to even look for one. And, the father is probably also living in the house as well and, of course, he doesn't have to work either. In fact, if a guy plays his cards right, he can find a single mother and move in with her so their government income supports him as well so he doesn't have to work. And, the kids all grow up knowing that they don't have to work either. And their kids and their kids and their kids - generation upon generation of democratic voters.

    HANG ON!
I have been discussing the notion suggested by a supporter of the right here that a left leaning government SEPARATES family and introduces instability. ??

It has been shown in studies that increasing spending power increases trade. They don't have to rely on real handouts they got for nothing and which means a shopkeepers doesn't get a sale.

To what end. Maybe in your neck of the woods it, money, grows on trees! Here taxation pays for that, and simply put TAKES AWAY from working taxpayers giving them less capital to work with..

Nobody loves socialism, hand-outs, and free stuff more than Republicons:
But that free stuff has to be redistributed to the rich, not the middle class and the poor.

Nobody loves their corporate pork spending more than Dem politicians. Take a look at the massive pork subsidies to green companies in BBB.

I have been quite clear about what I support and what I don't, please read more carefully. Why do you want to pay taxes just to get them back?

You said "return" what return am I SUPPOSED to get from a pandemic? If you want a "return" then invest in something that will be profitable in a pandemic. This is about government handouts.

A deduction is not a refundable tax credit, a rebate is not a refundable tax credit and off-road diesel is not taxed the federal excise tax because the machinery using it is not using the roads the tax pays for.

    Try again.

Joe Biden Calls for Renewal of Monthly Government Payments to Families

Since we are spending money we don't have and fueling inflation, might as well throw in a little more, huh? Well maybe it is more than a little more. They never learn. Hopefully these fools can be contained until they are voted out of office.

Biden is leading us into a Jimmy Carter stagflation. Watching the business channels this morning producers and manufacturers are contracting, experts saying we are already in double digit inflation. And Biden is like a deer in the headlights trying to find someone ANYONE else to blame while his advisors offer NOTHING and do not have the guts to fight this as Reagan did with Volker at the FED.

I've always said that government can't fix a bad economy but it certainly can cause one.

I’m going to get it back anyway. The topic is if I should get it monthly or once when I file.

No I pay far more in taxes than I get back via tax credit. Silly assumption to make.
