Amazing that you believe it's about free speech. I've read the actual decision, and yeah, it talks about free speech, yada yada yada ... but it's about money. I don't like that much money in our politics, no matter who pours it on.

I don't think that it is going to be the wealthy affluent suburbanites vs the working class. The biggest change with Trumpism is that he has disenfranchise many college educated voters. Trump's largest segment of support comes from non college educated voters. Many of these college educated voters are or will become the wealthy affluent suburbanites that will run corporate America. There are also many college educated workers that will or did not find great jobs and have a ton of college debt barely scrapping by that will probably embrace the socialism ideals preached by Sanders and co.

 

The Democrats are controlled opposition. They pretended to oppose Citizens United. Pelosi's House passed Trump's entire legislative agenda. The Dems fast tracked Trump's judges. They chose not to block the nomination of Amy Coney Barret.

A very conservative group got the Citizens United decision pushed through the court. They should have been careful what they wished for, because the Democrats are using that decision to pour boatloads of money into campaigns, just like Republicans have done in past elections.

The only reason that some of the conservative PACs and SuperPACs aren't matching the Dems in fundraising this year is because far too many of them have had more than their fill of Trump and don't care if he gets re-elected.

 

If the Republicans can do it for a year, the Dems could've done it for a month.
