So General Kelly, a great and honorable man who’s integrity is only questioned by the most despicable and far reaching fringe among the Left, pretty much just ended this pathetic sham of a “debate”. How any leftie can listen to this speech, see the pain on his face and the words of truth that he speaks, and still buy their bullcrap into the CNN talking points is beyond the pale of rationality.

Will the Left now violently attack this great man? Smear him and call him a liar? Insult him? A Gold Star father who lost his son in Afghanistan and is one of the few who actually has the right to even comment on a subject such as this? Based on the reactions by some on this forum already it appears the answer will be yes. But that’s not unsurprising of the Left.

All I can say is, God bless you General Kelly. And God bless the Men and Women who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation.

There were two parts to his speech. His impassioned and sincere take on the issue that only sociopaths could dimiss and his long winded attack on the congresswoman calling her an empty barrel.

Part One - moving and way more presidential than der twitler.

Part Two - seems to me by his criteria for calling the congresswoman an empty barrel when applied to his boss would mean Trump is an empty oil tanker. Or do his people forget the pathetic speech in front of the CIA wall of rememberance?

What's with trump and gold star families, anyway? What is it about them that he just can't seem to avoid stepping in it every time he has any kind of public interaction with them? And its entirely of his own doing - albeit blown up by the media.

At least you admit the media bows things out of proportion, now can you admit the media makes things up and lies themselves?

Yeah, I did feel insulted for my burn barrel that I have in my backyard for burning yard waste once in a while.

While my barrel isn’t the prettiest thing out there, there is no reason to compare it to that pathetic excuse for a being in a ridiculous cowboy hat.

I am reminded of something ...

When a service member is killed in battle, we say that he or she "gave their life" for our country. It is understood what that phrase means.

But I really believe this ...

The life of a service member may end in battle, but they gave their life on the day they enlisted.

    Semper Fi, General Kelly.

Nobody 'gives' their life. A few sacrifice their lives in order to save others but nobody gives it up.

People who join the military forces have a reasonable expectation that they will live and not be abandoned by Trump CIC and their buddies in a firefight.

Maybe military personnel should sign a promise not to 'give their life' at a time that would embarrass or inconvenience Trump.

You happen to know why she was in the limo with the wife?

Seems trump attracts supports who also lack any shred of empathy or real understanding of the effects of loss.

She should have kept her mouth shut, but she couldn't and didn't. And trump in true trumpian fashion couldn't find a little finesse that would have put it all to bed. Seriously sad character flaw there donnie.

The partisan attacks by BOTH sides need to stop, and what Kelly said was spot on.

But if people on BOTH SIDES don't start seeing one another as people and stop with the ENDLESS attacks over EVERYTHING, there's going to be nothing left but rubble.

    :(

There was nothing wrong with what trump said. However, you are exactly right in that trump was an idiot for responding to their reaction the way he did. There is no question on that. When they came out and said “he disrespected us” he should have just bite his tongue and said “I am sorry if anything I said was disrespectful. That was not my intent.” And that would have been the end of it. But trump is trump.

there isn't any question that 7/24 media blows things way out of proportion sometimes and other times ignores important stories.

Some media make thing up and often, due to the nature of today's media, repeat lies and fake news.

However, it is ridiculously fallacious to presume that ALL MSM media lies. I realize this is the ideal excuse for many to dismiss bad news reports since it requires absolutely no thought.

there is great commonality in the strategy of fallacy that deniers of all stripes seem to use.

for instance rule 2 for holocaust deniers is easily adapted from:

    2. Heads-I-Win-Tails-You-Lose -- Demand that all evidence for the Holocaust be proved genuine (dodging any discussion of what that proof would consist of), and also demand that all your unsubstantiated assertions be proved false. That way, you never bear any burden of proof.

    or from:

    11. The Great Leap -- This tactic goes like this: If one piece of testimony about the Holocaust seems unreliable, then ALL testimony about the Holocaust is unreliable. If one Holocaust witness may have recanted something on the stand, then all other Holocaust witnesses are liars. If some camp prisoners did not starve to death, then NONE of them starved to death. etc. But be careful. This is a double-edged sword -- someone may use the well-documented lies of other revisionists to conclude that YOU are a liar as well.

If one source may have recanted something on the record, then all other sources are liars. If one woman lied about getting assaulted then ALL of lied about getting assaulted etc. But be careful. This is a double-edged sword -- someone may use the well-documented lies of other revisionists to conclude that YOU are a liar as well.

What's the difference between a soldier killed in combat and President Trump?

The soldier knew what he signed up for.

Using dead soldiers as the punch line of a joke? How are you not ashamed of yourself?

Ive been told that acknowledging the soldiers knowing what they signed up for and that they still faced that risk is honoring their service.

Lack of knowledge, experience and preparation is what makes Trump the punch line of that joke.
