His possible return to the US Senate is unknown at this time. This has huge implications for the Republicans that only have a two seat majority in the US Senate. As we know that slim majority hasn't been enough to repeal Obamacare and with it down to just one seat it further limits their power because they can't afford any opposition for any reason from Republicans on legislation they might propose such as tax reform.

That's terrible news. I always liked John McCain. He has served his Country faithfully.
I hope he can recover from this.

IMO McCain has been politically more of an impediment than a help. I hope he retires and has a healthy, enjoyable retirement.

    I concur.

But I was not a big McCain fan but I can say the same about the Bush's. But I voted for all three in the general elections but not during the primaries.

John McCain was just not a maverick but a neocon / RINO

He served honorably in the military and while a prisoner of war at the Hanoi Hilton he followed the U.S. Military Code of Conduct better than most would have in particular #3 of the Code of Conduct.

When Charlie found out who John McCain was, that his fathers was Admiral McCain the military commander in charge of bombing the **** out of North Vietnam they offered to release John McCain from prison and under the Code of Conduct, McCain told Charlie to go eat ****.

Some think that made McCain a war hero. No, McCain did what was expected of him, he followed the Code of Contact.

If John McCain passes away you are going to see one of the largest funeral possession in decades honoring the old sailor, neocon and senator.

Might be premature but... Semper Fi John.

We will pull a Democratic party stunt by hauling him to vote on a stretcher. And if he dies, we will simply connect the body to a voice box and he still will vote. We learn well from Democrats.

No one should have go go through what McCain did in Vietnam and now this brain cancer. He is obviously a very strong human being and I wish him well and hope he pulls through this.

I remember back during the Presidential campaign in 2008 watching television some where and some young liberal making fun of how McCain couldn't raise his arms above his shoulders. Came close to smacking that young kid in the face.

The reason why McCain can't raise his arms above his shoulders was from being tortured as a POW.

If the Democrats have any honor, they would have one Democrat Senator step down until McCain returns to duty or is replaced if he doesn't make it.

I love McCain, but let's keep perspective as e honor him: he is now 80 years old. Any of us who live to age 80 will likely come down with a debilitating if not fatal disease, possibly long before that, and it is as likely as not to be cancer. Dying is always sad, but it's not "tragic" when you live that long.

"Cancer is primarily a disease of older people, with incidence rates increasing with age for most cancers. In the UK in 2012-2014, on average each year half (50%) of cases were diagnosed in people aged 70 and over."

One of a very rare breed - a decent republican.
I wanted him to get the GOP nomination in 2000 - Karl Rove dirty tricks killed his chances.
    I wish him well.

Tragic, and Gupta/CNN said, on average, very aggressive and not leaving a long lifespan afterword.
Horrible too, was Filth Bag/Traitor/Never-served Trump Insulting him as not being a hero because he was captured.

McCain was subjected to what the CIA referred under #8 in it's "Enhanced Interrogation Techniques" directions.

    http://www.businessinsider.com/the-...-techniques-the-cia-used-on-detainees-2014-12

These positions result in "mild discomfort" for perhaps as long ten minutes but as time passes the pain builds until it's excruciating and can result to permanent damage that cripples the victim for life as was the case with John McCain and many of the detainees in Afghanistan and Iraq that were subjected to CIA interrogations.

It was for this reason that McCain was a vocal opponent to the Bush Administrations use of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques and accurately defined all 13 techniques as torture in violation of US and International Law. The authorization coming from the Bush White House constituted a War Crime and Crime Against Humanity punishable by life imprisonment under International Law. Under US law those that commit the acts of torture can be subject to life imprisonment and even the death penalty if the victim dies. There were at least eight deaths identified as homicides by the coroner's report due to the use of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques. By authorizing the use of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques the Bush White House was subject to criminal prosecution as "conspirators" with life in prison as the punishment if convicted.

Along with John McCain that I applaud for his opposition to the use of torture I also classify the CIA agents that refused to be involved in these acts of torture and American Heroes. Unfortunately their actions for refusal to become involved in torture was not recognized as being heroic and their careers with the CIA suffered because they followed the law and the US Constitution by refusing to participate.

Anticipating his conviction for contempt of court by refusing the end the racist profiling by the Maricopa Sheriff Department in compliance with a federal court order I'm assuming this means after he gets out of jail.

    http://www.kolotv.com/content/news/...ontempt-trial-rests-with-judge-433224163.html

None of us living in Arizona want anything from Joe "The Racist" Arpaio except for him to spend his time in jail and then disappear from the public world.

I disagreed with many of McCain's political positions but always considered him to be a decent Republican that, as noted, is a rare breed these days.

I may not have agreed on many of his policies, but I send my thoughts and prayers his way. John McCain is an American hero, and one of the very few members of the GOP that I respected.

And I am reminded of how our COWARD of a so-called president insulted McCain -
"“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said. Sarcastically, Trump quipped, “He’s a war hero because he was captured.” Then, he added, “I like people that weren’t captured.”
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...g-captured-in-vietnam/?utm_term=.79871033ffb0

McCain IS a hero. He went thru hell and served his country, he didn't say his feet hurt out of cowardice.

I certain wish him well. However, he was such a terribly bitter loser and such an extreme warhawk neocon he should not have been re-elected. He is the Democratic Party's favorite Senator at all with his nearly daily attacks on President Trump. I wish him well, but hope he does not return to the Senate - and that little freak Lindsey Graham should resign with him.
