What people miss...is that the Republicans want to pass tax cuts (later) ...calling it tax reform. But to do it they'd have to do it as part of reconciliation which means it has to be budget neutral. They want to pass tax cuts via reconciliation because that only requires 51 votes to pass as opposed to an actual bill which would have to be bi-partisan.

What does all this have to do with healthcare?

They need the "tax savings" created by taking healthcare away from tens of millions to offset the tax CUTS they want to include in their "tax reform" package.

They are literally stealing from the poor (and everyone else) in order to give money to the rich

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/15/politics/trump-obamacare/index.html

"We're going to have insurance for everybody," Trump told The Washington Post. "There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can't pay for it, you don't get it. That's not going to happen with us."
"[They] can expect to have great health care. It will be in a much simplified form. Much less expensive and much better," he said.

    Uh.... you mean like this?

It wasn't about how outlandish they are, but about how prevalent they are.

I was just showing my disgust for someone ranting and being hateful out of ignorance. I wasn't planning on a debate. Were you actually I interested in some thoughtful debate? I thought you were just I interested in McCain being harrassed.

I don't think it's reasonable to blame the prevalence of conspiracy theories on the right for our current political divide. When it comes to interpreting facts both Republicans and Democrats have little understanding of how the world works.

That's why Alexander Hamilton gave us a Senate. Hopefully they can get their **** together.

I don't think anything has passed. Has he passed a bill? Obama sold and passed a bill that he said would save me $2500 a year. Trump hasn't passed anything. Perhaps if you are interested in everyone being covered you should ask your democrats to vote for his bill like they voted for Obama's " I will save you $2500 a year" bill.

It's just a vote to debate and offer further amendments.

McTumor said he would vote against the Senate bill as it is now constituted. And that would make 3 against it and kill the Senate bill.

    Fair enough.

Trumpcare is still not out of the woods.

No, they had free health care on the federal exchange before obamacare. obama and the Dems had the opportunity to pay just like everyone who funds their salary. Instead they gave themselves a 72% subsidy.

Have you been living in a box?

The fascist democrat mandate that is Obama care was designed to redistribute wealth-and it was voted in on the lie that it would save people money.

All it did was give money to insurance companies that Obama chose, and funnel money away from the young to poor democrat voters.

It was a scam, and dems are paying the price.

Not sure WTF that has to do with it, but whatever.
did you listen to his remarks on the Senate floor? Seems to have a great grasp of the entire situation. Especially the AssHat partisanism bit.
I'm mildly aroused by your hysteria.

Are you actually calling care under the ACA "the best medical treatment money can buy?"

If so, your entire premise is flawed thus your entire reply is crap.

In this thread, lefties slowly discover the propaganda from Obamacare has been roundly rejected, and with good reason.

Traitor McCain is a Repub. The Repub health care plan for Joe Citizen is for Joe Citizen to hurry up and die when he gets sick. So traitor McCain should use the Repub health care plan and hurry up and die.

In this thread, people discover that right wingers seldom know what they're talking about and are cheering against their own best interests again.

Yes, before the ACA, I had a few choices of "affordable low deductible plans" too.

But they were largely worthless if anything serious happened. Nearly all of them has very low maximum payouts (there is no maximum payout under the ACA).

I could afford it, but it wasn't worth much.

A lot of companies offered garbage insurance like this and pretended taht they were giving their employees, "full benefits". Ted Cruz wants to bring that back.

My wife was labelled as having a pre existing condition, and we couldn't insure her at any price. Well, actually, one company did offer us a plan, at twice the price we would up paying for Obamacare for.

Sorry for your prejudice. But the ACA worked for me. When my wife did have health issues, we didn't have to lose everything we had to pay the bill. The Republicans want to put me back on the hook for that risk.

    Thanks, but no thanks!

The plans being "debated" have public approval in the 20% range. You're not alone

It is because we've reduced politics to tabloid entertainment.

The spread of 24 hour cable news, and later blogs, has not resulted in more news and a better informed public.

Instead, the same three cable news channels cover the same three or four inside the Beltway stories every night, and cable shouters "analyize" them to death, while bloggers, politicians and reporters compete for face time on TV to build their brand.

Cable TV chases charletans like Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin etc because their antics are entertaining.

That's why we have a man with the brains and gavitas of a game show host in the White House.
