Such good publicity. John Oliver really knows how to sell his show. I think he learned from Fox News's example: the best way to deliver news is to entertain people at the same time. And the best way to capture peoples' attention is by doing **** like this.

The book doesn't look at that funny. What is funny is that it captured the number one spot on NY Times Best Seller list.

Mike Pence is ****ing scum. I dread the day that Trump is removed from office.

If anybody would know Pence would.

With that haircut and wardrobe, he has repressed closet case written all over him.

    True Story. :salute:

I liked Jon Stewart's daily show to no end. I have no such love for Trevor Noah or John Oliver. John Oliver in particular falls into the Samantha Bee category of cringey smug liberal. Stewart's charm was that he knew how to mercilessly rip both sides of politics depending on the issue at hand.

Right.... And before that John Oliver trolled Donald Trump urging him to run for president.

Oliver: Do it...look at me...do it. I will personally write you a campaign check.

Clever, wasn't he, what a laugh you must have had then :D

Then Pence is surely going to end up with a gay bunny.

Bart to the Future [Simpsons] and Back to the Future II both "predicted" trump would be elected. It was considered to be so outrageous that it was a joke.

Sad thing when the US turns out to be worse than a bad joke.

    For Real.

Pence checks off several boxes of what is universally considered to be the textbook behavior of "deeply repressed closet cases".

    Gay basher.
    Religious freak.
Pretends to be afraid of jealous spouse
    .
All things that DESCRIBE Pence to a tee.

All 3 Behaviors universally considered to be textbook examples of Deeply Repressed Closet Cases.

Oliver's book probably hits too close to home (for Pence).

It is what it is. :salute:

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Pence just needs to come out of the closet. :flagus:

If you click your heels together Dorothy 3 times and say "there's no place like Indiana" you can have Toto call for impeachment and Pence will be your wizard. :roflol:

I would not be at all surprised if he is. The gay hate thing is very telltale.

Rumor has it that Pence calls his wife "mother". If that is true, it is very odd.

Does it help liberals to fuel their hate by being abusive to others? It sure seems as much. Can you for an instant imagine the reaction of the left had say someone accused, nay published a satirical children's book saying Hillary was straight? I mean, jeesh... I can see the spittle flying from here....

Yep, Oliver is important in that he represents the state of the LW "mind" and the places they get their "political awareness" while projecting their lack of such near daily here and elsewhere with "ignorant old dying out people who don't believe as I do" lie narratives. In the years I've been here, near all of the threads sourced from entertainment come from the left.

What a worthy "current event" this topic is.

There goes the left again, always obsessed with any form of sexual activity, regardless of the age of it's target audience.

    I largely agree.

Though I like John Oliver...he is a little too one-sided and vicious for my tastes.

I have rarely watched Trevor Noah. He is fine, but he just does not engage me like Jon Stewart did.

I am an independent. So I like commentators who call both sides out fairly equally.

Lately, because they are in power, the Reps should get most of the attacks. But the Dems are hardly acting with great honor themselves. But Trump's antics make almost everyone else lose look a little better/more mature.
    Trump IS an easy target.

The difference, as I see it, is that Stewart was nobody's mouthpiece. Noah is transparent advocacy. He measures his success in votes, not laughs.

I honestly can't name a late night TV host that I like at the moment.

This is why Jay Leno was popular: he wasn't a smug advocate for one party. He had his views, but he was upfront about them and never let the narrative dictate the show.
