Uh, well that's not how mental adjudication works, but I suppose you are welcome to your unsupportable opinion.

Fallacy. False dichotomy. Black Lies Matter will support any American of African descent regardless of offense and evidence of guilt, providing they have drunk the Kool Aid (ie, the black life of a Larry Elder or a Candice Owens, or a murdered black police officer does not matter). Juicy is no cult of personality. He is simply darkly-complected and has the right politics, which is to say, left politics.

Loss of FREEDOM is a proper punishment.

This verdict makes me so happy

Jussie is what kkk is on white race, on black race

People like Jussie want race wars, they are fueled by hate. This is a man who had it all, actor, rich but was’t enough. He needed to seek the status of social justice champion, he needed more fame. He created a fake hate crime to further divide a country, fuel hate, riots and violence could’ve ensued. He wasted the resources of the already strained chicago police department who should’ve been focused on real crimes

to make matters worse, he refused to apologize, went on air and used his acting skills to appear distraught, he tried to lift himself up as trump’s adversary.

this is a selfish, hateful man and just like colin kapernick, a fraud. These people don’t care about justice or equality, they care about themselves and want sow discord, spread hate, for personal gain

ok, you can defend him if you wish, I still think to commit a crime like this, one must have mental issues

Could have, but didn't. If there had been 'Justice for Jussie' riots, an argument could be made to place some of the responsibility on him (though I still tend to prefer that we're each responsible for own actions and not the actions of others). I dont think it would set good precedent to hold Jussie responsible for the actions that others could have taken but didn't...

I think Jussie should be fined for every dollar spent investigating and prosecuting his shenanigans. Its probably in the millions of dollars. I think that is not only just, but would send the appropriate message to anyone seeking to do what he did.

Whatever sentence he receives will be minor compared to the damage to his reputation that will require him to find another career.

The person convicted of a hate crime in Louisiana, for example, just a year ago received 25 years in prison after burning 3 African American churches.

How many towns in America were burned down due in part to the Smollett hate crime?

So- we let public sentiment- mob threats, etc.- dictate how the law will be applied? Who will be found guilty? What punishment should apply?

Is that what you mean, or do I misunderstand?
Is the verdict to be subject to a popularity poll?

Consider that the crime was far more than lying to police.... Smollett WAS trying to ignite riots or racist action and make himself the sympathetic benefactor. Motive matters, but hard to prove what was in his mind even though it may be obvious. The lying was proven.

You're honestly trying to conate a false police report with arson? Please tell me that's a joke.

    @Bow To The Robots

    Arson
    Rioting
    Looting

Remember the times of Smollett's actions.
    Portland, Minneapolis burning.
Smollett's actions were an attempt to get
some riot action with his face stamped on it.
Maybe in a nice lavender frame

And that Boys & Girls seems to have been
ignored by the criminal justice system
And yes for those times, dots can be connected.
Federal charges might be nice fostered by the
    1/6 fans.

I would at the very least say that if we are to tack on extra punishment to a crime by calling it a "hate crime", then we should tack on a similar extra weight to those falsifying a hate crime.

He's still lying and shows zero remorse. He needs time served...significant.. These type of crimes do hurt people. These types of crimes are done TO hurt people. We need deterrence.
