I just watched an episode of "Moonshiners" on the Discovery Channel.

a bunch of moonshiners decided to piss off their competition, so they made a large container of Tannerite, set it by the competition's car, and blew it up.

they could have killed everyone within 100' or more.

this kinda **** cannot be encouraged by tv networks, just for ratings .

i emailed the ATF to report this and contacted Discovery to express my disgust with them showing this.

hopefully ATF will contact Discovery, get the names of all involved, and arrest them quicky for violating state and federal firearms and explosives law.

Tannerite, used to intimidate criminal competition, is the worst possible reason one can abuse this substance or simply a homemade version.

    WTF!!!

Considering it was on a TV show, I'm not putting it past them to stage the episode.

I am with you though that that type of thing has no place on "reality" TV. Too many dumb people in the world will get ideas from it.

Tannerite is fun to play around with. I recommend small amounts at a time though.

It was probably staged but the fact that it is presented as reality makes it dangerous

there was last year or 2 years ago a show about folks foraging ging sing root.

some episodes different competitors would point guns at each other.

the show didn't last long, i always felt the criminal activity was part of the reason.

i have no problem with seeing Moonshiners do their thing, but blowing up people's cars with tannerite? threatening peoples lives? thats not cool and should not be "entertainment".

did not look staged at all.

the show claims to be legit, reality tv simply following folks do their Moonshining routine.

these guys should be arrested and indicted for all sorts of gun and explosives laws

using explosives to intimidate criminal competition and destroy private property could probably get you 25 years in prison

I doubt any "reality TV" is "real" in any way

I've never watched the show, but most reality TV is staged or at least pointed in a general direction with the use of competitions, hardships, and/or alcohol. I have no reason to believe moonshiners is any different.

Moonshiners is an American docudrama television series on the Discovery Channel that dramatizes the life of people who produce (illegal) moonshine in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The series dramatizes their liquor production efforts, law-evading techniques and life.[1] There have been claims by local officials that the show is not what it portrays to be. Virginia authorities have stated that no illegal liquor is actually being produced by the people depicted in the show. The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) said in March 2012 that, "If illegal activity was actually taking place, the Virginia ABC Bureau of Law Enforcement would have taken action."[2] They also said that they had requested for the producers to add a disclaimer to clarify that the show was only a dramatization, "but the request was overlooked",[2] and the show's producers, Magilla Entertainment, have stated their documentary content is real.[3]

the shows producers claim its documenting actual real events.

if that is so, they must give names and contact info to the ATF.

or.........admit the show is a dramaticization in an opening disclaimer

depends on their definition of 'real'. pretty sure it's not the same as the viewer's.

if the event is real, its domestic terrorism.

u think that should be ignored?

what happened to "If you see something, say something"????????

if the event is FAKE, Discovery Channel needs to make a disclaimer in the beginning of the show.

still dont understand why you would want domestic terrorists to be left alone.

    wow

if this was Mexican drug gangs in Detroit shooting people, you would have a different response.

producers claim is it 100% real.

if so, domestic terrorism was committed and needs to be looked at
