This ought to give the anti's something to hate for Christmas.

Springfield Armory introduces the Saint Edge AT-15 style pistol, with a ten inch barrel and a OAL of just over twenty inches combined with the low recoil of the 5.56, it makes for a very maneuverable and compact firearm, that fits easily under the Christmas tree.

It would be easier to build a much nicer one for much less money. For $1500 I'm getting an AR pistol and a suppressor.

Understood, but for some it's easier out of the box.

Yeah, there's no reason to spend that much $ for an AR pistol.
The AR pistol is THE best way to get a SBR w/o the muss and fuss.

I'm still sitting on an AR stripped lower. I want to build a pistol, but I'm not sure enough to start. Maybe I need another so I can build a rifle and a pistol. If I do a pistol, I want a binary trigger.

If you find a binary trigger, do your homework well. Some have more downside than upside. If doing precision long range shooting, some are more difficult to interrupt the second round being fired (Franklin comes to mind). Consider getting a good aftermarket trigger with adjustable take up and a fast, audible reset and have a capability for more controllable quick follow up shot. Then, if you still want to shoot faster, simulating burst or fill auto, learn the technique to bump fire from the shoulder... many after market triggers make it easier and can increase the rate of fire significantly... I can bumpfire (years ago we called it recoiled assist firing) on command, from two rounds to a mag. Fun, but, I prefer semi auto mode... I am not Jerry Miculek, but I am pretty quick and accurate.

The rifle cost less, why would the pistol cost more??

Perhaps because the market for such is not as large, due to lower demand.

A basic rifle comes with a rear stock and buffer set up that costs, retail, about $50-70. The Saint pistol comes with the Maxim Forearm Brace, which retails at $375.
