Fun fact, no matter what happens to you, you decide how you react. Anger is a choice. I was in a situation the other day where I had to do double work (thru no fault of my own) I was cussing and sputtering under my breath then I said to myself ...."FatBack, this is happening either way, wheter you choose anger or patience matters to no one but you, you will be doing this no matter how you feel, if you choose anger the only thing you changed is to be stressed out doing it".....This is one of the most valuable lessons I learned from my Creator.

I can't control what happens to me but how I respond to it, is entirely up to me. If I already must do something I have no choice in, why complicate it by choosing to be angry? Now I made an unpleasent situation worse, by my own volition. Many folks choose anger while not realizing it's a choice they willfully chose.

    Dont be that person.

We were waiting in the Doctors office today, she (my other half) was becoming irate. I explained this logic to her, she was recalcitrant to the idea that anger is a choice, became more angry for me saying that.....I hope to help her see this.

If you must wait for an hour, what's better....being angry and irate for said hour or just realizing this is what is and accepting it, either way...an hour remains an hours. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!

That still doesn't mean we should not work to solve problems, of course, with the same intensity of motivation as if we were hop steaming angry.

I have received a certain peice, in realizing this. It's entirely MY CHOICE how I react. No one can take this from me.

Not the best thief on earth can take this, unless I allow it.

No one takes my piece unless I give it away. I cant control much, but I do control that.

Solving the problems requires determination, not anger. The intensity wasted on anger is better channeled as energy to succeed at solving the problem.

We have gone insane, collectively......Our diametrically opposed opinions have created such a Gulf, a reconcilliation seems very unlikely

I dont harbor hate in my heart....but...

I think how we feel is not a choice, but how we behave ie move our mouths and bodies is something we have some control over.

Might be a good case in point to apply your philosophy :aww:

I think you'll find that whatever is in your heart doesn't make much difference to anyone else here, it's all about your relationship with you.

I've had several lucid dreams of Spike.....So real, he jumps into my arms, crawls around my bed, just like he always did.

The advice you received about anger applies equally to hate. What most people do not know is that hatred poisons the person doing the hating. It is your choice to hate but by doing so you are only harming yourself. Only you and your loved ones will suffer the consequences.

Hating someone means allowing them to own YOUR emotions and your emotional wellbeing.

So ask yourself this question. Do you really want to spend your life hating people who do not even know that you exist let alone give a crap that you hate them and end as a bitter old man filled with so much hatred that no one wants to even be around you?

Yes, we will probably NEVER be on the same side when it comes to politics but we are both Americans who just want what is best for our fellow Americans.

Our nation NEEDS to have BOTH conservatives and liberals as a check and balance for what is ultimately intended to be MODERATE society that UPHOLDS the concepts of individual rights.

For instance take the divisive issue of abortion. While those on the right find it abhorrent those on the left consider it be an essential reproductive right. Neither side should be IMPOSING their position on the other because it is an INDIVIDUAL right. If we can agree upon the fact the individual is the one who makes the decision then there is no longer a basis for being divided on this issue.

Once you remove the emotions like hatred from the discussion the solutions are generally COMPROMISES where each side gives up a little and society as a whole is better off as a result.

Good questions, I expect to take a nature hike some day and just not come home. I'm in no hurry but I wont just perish in deprivation. Life looks bleak. Life has not been an easy ride for me.

I love life but the future does not look great. But make no mistake, I'm in no big hurry.I', now 40....I expect to see 70.

@FatBack I'm sorry for your loss, I really love dogs also, and I know all the joy they can bring. They're four-legged sunshine. The sorrow that follow is worth it to me, when considered the joy brought. Take care of yourself.

Great post....I have long known that hating someone gives THEM control over you and I quit hating many, many years ago....it isn't healthy and harms no one but the hater.
