Thank you for sharing. The situation is indeed tragic. Every loss of life is a tragedy.

Sadly very many people can not survive on their own. The Society has a duty to ensure survival of all people. Mental disability is a very serious issue. I have Autism and Depression.

No individual in the world is guaranteed their survival.

It does not. Not on a legal basis, nor on a moral basis. Not in the united states, nor in the nation of Japan where the culture holds the individual owes society everything, where it is considered a dishonor to need social services to survive. They as a culture are raised from birth to believe that if they cannot contribute to society, then they are worthless.

    Irrelevant.

Again, irrelevant. The discussion does not pertain to yourself specifically, therefore there is no legitimate reason to continue bringing up personal and irrelevant details that have no bearing on the discussion.

A belief held only by those who know they would not be asked to contribute anything.

The U.S. citizens would be a lot better off if that was the policy in this country, if one refuse's to contribute to society, then they have no reason to expect anything from society because they are worthless.

Millionaires would not suffer much from contributing the funds which could help hundreds of people in need.

I disagree 100%. People who can not contribute are not less worthy then those who can contribute a lot. All Humans have Souls.

Considering Humans who can not contribute worthless is evil. All Humans have paramount value. Our Society is rich enough to ensure universal survival.

First, such does not change the facts of the statement. A welfare state is only supported by those who know they would not be tasked with providing anything, while being free to benefit from everything.

Second, exactly how long would such a system be sustainable? How long would the united states be able to provide for a nationwide welfare state, if the entire population of the united states chose overnight to cease earning a living, and instead be provided with a free living through the government? How long would it take for the fortunes of millionaires to be completely exhausted? What will be done then?

Whether or not such is disagreed with ultimately changes nothing. It is what the people of the nation of Japan are raised from birth to believe. It is a belief that is ingrained into them, that they as individuals are meaningless and they owe a debt to society to be their best and contribute for the good of everyone. Needing social welfare is considered a shame in the nation of Japan.

Wrong, you could take all the wealth from the millionaires and redistribute to all the non-millionaires and it would give them a one time payment of just over $41K and in the process eliminate a majority of those who produce jobs through investments and direct employment, effectively bankrupting the country and all of it's citizens.

False, when a society reaches a level where 50% of the country is working and being taxed to support the other 50% of the population, the workers will wither no longer work or go under the table crashing the economy destroying the lives of both the workers and the mooches.

You are either really clueless about economics and are trying to justify your non-productive existence.

No? Even an emphatic no? Tell me what I said that was wrong and I'll prove that it is right.

I didn't say that both liberals and conservatives don't have faults, did I? I said that a fault of the Democrats is that they support policies known to be racist, known to be harmful to African Americans, homosexuals, Latinos, women, and children. They use these groups to get votes by creating programs and policies that harm all of them and then claim that only they have the solutions to end the harm. This is the Great Society that President Lyndon Baines Johnson created with the very explicit intention of enslaving black Americans to the Democratic party through government give-aways.

People with autism succeed quite well all the time. You admitted yours is minor so there's no doubt in my mind that you could survive it and work productively. As to your depression, well, anyone with self-esteem as low as yours would certainly be depressed. But your low self-esteem comes from not taking care of yourself, getting up every day and doing something productive. Instead, you sit on your ass at the computer and chat on Internet forums about things about which you know nothing.

Even if you were physically unable to work at many jobs, you can at least operate your PC to get online. Even if you don't work, use your computer to research the history of the United States, it's republican (little r) beginnings, and the true meaning and intent of our Constitution.

Even if, after doing the research, you still think a welfare state is best, we could disagree but then you'd also know that the things you hope for are not compatible with our way of life and would require modifying or destroying our Constitution. I could respect a person who understood but disagreed.

Use your time to learn instead of feeling sorry for yourself and whining about your pathetic, miserable, existence. Of course, in the process of learning, you might discover ways you can be a productive member of society at home, on the PC. You might learn things like

    • being a researcher - hard to make a lot of money but you can make some.
    • computer programming or system administration - lots of home jobs. Mentally stimulating, great opportunities for building self-esteem because you are productive.
    • day trading - do it on paper, no money lost or made. Then start small, make a few pennies, turn those to dollars, dollars to thousands, thousands to millions. Lots of billionaires out there who know nothing except how to understand and play markets.

Your lot in life is what you choose; what you chose.

A welfare state doesn't discourage thievery; it encourages it. It creates a sense of entitlement and the high crime levels among welfare recipients is absolute proof that I am right and you are wrong.

The thing that would prevent stealing with a person's hands actually picking up and taking that which is not theirs is to cut off everyone's hands. Then poke out their eyes so they don't use a computer to steal. Then cut off their testicles and sex organs so they don't covet or commit adultery. But the only way to keep them from violating the commandment to honor their mother and father would be to abort them all because every child dishonors his parents at one time or another....Most get over it, of course, but still... If we're enforcing not sinning rather than giving people the choice to sin, not sin, repent, make amends, then you must support what it takes to end sin.

There are also companies like Teleperformance who hire people to telecommute, that is work from home providing tech support mostly through on-line chat, anyone who has the time to post here could easily get a good paying job there and never have to leave their home.

However too many people who could do such work are too lazy and would just prefer to live off of the riches of others, these are known as societal mooches.

Not all wealth, but high taxes of their profits. This would enable the State to provide Welfare benefits to all in need.

I do not need that much. A person does not need much to be happy -- food, shelter, and medical care.

I am mostly happy. If I learn how to talk to people via videoconferencing, I would be happy. Forums are too slow. I would like to learn Discord.

Then they would not invest their money or offshore it and either way by the loss of velocity cause a loss of income to the Treasury, you are really clueless when it comes to economics aren't you.

Lately I have lots of work due to virus.
