Kamala Harris and other prominent Democrats want to repeal Trump's tax cuts and replace them with cash payouts for the poor and working class

      • With midterm elections 2½ weeks away and the 2020 presidential race around the corner, prominent Democrats are embracing an ambitious idea: Repeal and replace the $1.5 trillion Republican tax plan.
      • The proposals would get rid of the tax cuts and, in turn, funnel that money into government-guaranteed cash for low- and middle-income households.
      • Possible White House contender Sen. Kamala Harris announced a plan this week that would give working families up to $6,000 each year, with the option of receiving monthly payments.

Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., announced a plan this week that would give working families up to $6,000 each year, with the option of receiving monthly payments. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., outlined a similar idea last year. A bill from Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-N.J., would allow family caregivers and students to receive the money as well.

Looks like the dems are so desparate that they are just straight up promising to "redistribute" the money working Americans get to keep thanks to Trump, and use it as handouts to the poor.

Sounds a bit marxist but then again, so are these dems.

While conservatives push for old fashioned values like personal responsibility, the liberal platform is "free sh*t". Lovely.

Actually, making no changes to Social Security, leave it just as it is. We could end all other social safety net spending and send every American a dollar more than the poverty rate, and come out ahead, while eliminating all poverty in the US.

Leftists of course won't stand for it, do you know how many leftists are employed in the system to redistribute money in the US?

But, I most certainly would exchange ALL social safety network spending in exchange for a guaranteed annual income equal to the poverty line, for every American.

I've got a clique of mathematically challenged democratic socialists attacking me 'cause math, and McConnell 'cause reform SS / Medicare. A couple of the geniuses claim a <2% increase in worker contributions makes SS solvent til 2090. Point being ... that with numerous "easy fixes" being floated on PF ... DNC candidates aren't campaigning on them. They want to expand the Medicare money pit, and enact new and bigger entitlements spending nightmares. Dems bankrupt cities all the time, now their going national. Any Calizuelan that votes for this kook better have stockpiled MRE's first. The PhD's in Venezuela are starving too.

Maybe you guys are right. How about we just flip it and give 83% of the cuts to those making under $75,000 instead of those making over $75,000.

Kennedy wouldn't have stood for the Trump tax cuts. One of his favorite sayings was "a rising tide carries all boats" so he would aim his tax cuts at benefiting the middle classes who would most likely spend the money on necessary replacement things and not put it into gold which just stops the circulation dead right there.

Harris's plan is necessary and will help our economy. Trump's tax cuts benefit noone but him and his very wealthy cronies

Are you guys all that rich? Wouldn't you like a bigger tax break?

    Wrong.

President John F. Kennedy brought up the issue of tax reduction in his 1963 State of the Union address. His initial plan called for a $13.5 billion tax cut through a reduction of the top income tax rate from 91% to 65%, reduction of the bottom rate from 20% to 14%, and a reduction in the corporate tax rate from 52% to 47%. The first attempt at passing the tax cuts was rejected by Congress in 1963. Conservatives revolted at giving Kennedy a key legislative victory before the election of 1964.[3]

Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963, and was succeeded by Lyndon Johnson. Johnson was able to achieve Kennedy's goal of a tax cut in exchange for promising a budget not to exceed $100 billion in 1965. The Revenue Act of 1964 emerged from Congress and was signed by Johnson on February 26, 1964.[1][4]

The stated goals of the tax cuts were to raise personal incomes, increase consumption, and increase capital investments. Evidence shows that these goals were exceeded by large degree with the combination of tax cuts and domestic spending programs President Johnson advocated, such as Medicare.[4] Unemployment fell from 5.2% in 1964 to 4.5% in 1965, and fell to 3.8% in 1966.[4][5] Initial estimates predicted a loss of revenue as a result of the tax cuts, however, tax revenue increased in 1964 and 1965.[4][6]

When the communists continue losing seats at the political table, does anyone believe they will suddenly accept the rejection and humbly revamp and retool their message and tact? accept the results of the 'democracy' they deceitfully claim to champion? become Americans again?

Hell no. not a chance. two years on, and they're still trying to overthrow a lawfully elected President by hook or crook. they are as radical and insane as they've ever been, and they never sleep....they never stop scheming...they never never stop trying to lie, con and buy their way into power...and your back pocket.

which means the only solution is war. if they won't accept defeat within the established system, which we can plainly see they won't, they must be crushed on the battlefield....which will have been a choice they've freely made.

I'm sure that sounds a bit dramatic, but what other future can there be? Barring another major attack that might (briefly) unify all Americans against a common foreign enemy, I can only see an ever-widening, unbridgeable chasm of contempt, distrust, lies, schemes, gambits, skulduggery, brinkmanship...

whatever happens, it is a most interesting time to be alive.

ALL tax cuts in the US mostly benefit the rich. It is how a progressive tax system works.

Democrat JFK stared down communists, today's Democrats are communists.
His Democrat brother vowed to clamp down on criminal gangs, today's Democrats are a criminal gang.
