And that's where the misunderstanding is. A tax cut is not "giving away" money. It is simply confiscating less of it. If a person (the poor) is paying zero now, they can't confiscate any less. "Not taking as much" is NOT the same as "giving away".

So? Since when has the public's opinion mattered all that much when crafting legislation?

This isn't a Monarchy. The money I earned doesn't belong to the King. It belongs to me. I paid for it with my work.

Since I earned the money I didn't pay because of the tax cuts, nobody has to pay for it.

We have to borrow money to pay for spending, not tax cuts.

Honestly one of the most asinine comments I've seen. I honestly try to call myself a centrist with conservative leanings but when a person says that my own money is not my own and belongs to someone else... This seriously pushes me further to the right, only for the fact I want to distance myself from such a disastrous ideologue.

No, it works for you, but when you don't pay it enough to do all the stuff you have it doing it just borrows the money and puts it on your tab. Why do you think the CBO prices in interest when they are calculating the cost of your tax cut?

The late Milton Friedman, a free-market economist and Nobel laureate, liked to say that to spend is to tax. Today's tax cuts, if they lead to deficits, are really just disguised future tax increases. The same is true of today's deficit-building spending increases. They, too, are poorly disguised future tax increases.

Don't misunderstand me, I like the tax cuts.
Trump borrows the money from the Chinese and gives it to me.
Your kids are the ones to pay it back.
    What's not to like. :)

Because they don't pay the taxes. The rich pay the vast majority of taxes. The bottom 20 percent have negative tax rates. The bottom 46.4% pay no income tax. The top 1% pay 43.9% of Federal income tax.

The fair share nonsense is just that - nonsense. They're already paying vastly more than their fair share.

Naw, it's the Trumpsters that are silly dumb for thinking we can have the greatest country by borrowing the money for it from our rivals.
I've had some great jobs - now blissfully retired. Did I thank you for sending my Social Security check?
Anyway, I'll be just fine if Spanky doesn't completely tank the economy.

Yep. If the bottom 46% had any money we could get more from them, but all the money has been flowing to the top since Reagan.
    You know the saying:
    Why do you rob banks?
Because that's where the money is.

    Well lets see:
Looks like Medicaid and the military are neck and neck, followed by interest on the debt.
What's that? Interest is number 3?

Refraining from taking their money is not the same as giving them money. The problem is not low taxation, but high subsidies, rampent State-industry collusion and cartels, barriers to market entry for all but the corporate elite, corrupt control of the financial industry, etc.

    Fair sharism is bull.

It was NOT borrowed. It might be borrowed IN THE FUTURE, if the government continues to spend more than it takes in. Taking less money FROM me now, does not in any way mean that the money I am "allowed" to keep was borrowed. That may be how the CBO scores it, but they are doing FUTURE projections, which are subject to change. Very simple -- the government can avoid borrowing any more by spending LESS money in the future. Stop whining about taxpayers getting tax cuts, and lobby your representatives to spend less if you are worried about the government needing to borrow money in the future.

Funny how Progressives think about the money hard-working Americans earn.

They think it's theirs, and the worker should be grateful for what he's allowed to keep.

The deficit rose to $779 billion in fiscal year 2018, up 17% from last year, according to final figures released Monday by the Treasury Department. That's the largest number since 2012, when the country was still spending massively to stimulate an economy struggling to recover.

I think your future is now.. :)

revenue is up, it’s not the taxes that are being collected but the spending. We need reforms to Medicare/Medicaid the largest drivers of national debt
