Call it what you will, I seem to see its effects time and time again. I have noticed over many years that whenever someone screws with me in a big way, they pay a big price. Often this applies to my work, which is highly competitive with some real sharks out there. But it applies to personal situations as well; such as the time that I took on the KKK in a small town.

I have considered retribution on occasion, when someone hurt me badly enough. But I never took that path. At most, I just doled out enough rope for them to hang themselves. But the pattern I've noticed time after time is that I don't need to do a thing. When people screw with me, God, or Karma, or the universal consciousness pays them back for me; and with interest.

How cool is that? Sometimes I feel like I have a body guard. The most recent example ended up in the hospital.

I too have allowed Karma to do what it will and almost felt guilty when it does...almost. Thus do I live my life with it in mind, making me a better person and a pleasant human....rare as it seems to be.

Reap what you sow, what goes around comes around, action and reaction.

This is why it's sometimes best to simply leave shitty people to their own devices, they'll often dig their own grave. All it takes is patience on your part. Careful though, the urge to speed up the process can be powerful, and indignation can lead to you generating "bad karma" of your own.

Also, once they've dug a hole and fallen into it, be sure they want help instead of company when they reach out for help.

The main thing for me is that they cease to be a threat.

Sometimes I have been proactive, but not with the intent of hurting anyone; only in self defense. I still have to laugh a little when I think about those KKK guys. I had figured out that it really was a conspiracy of sorts by planting false information and seeing where it led. I didn't know everything but I knew at least four of five of the people involved [including threats, harassing calls, and even maiming a goat of ours]. So I went to someone involved who thought I still trusted him. I started talking and acting a little crazy - like they had gotten to me. I talked about people being out to get me, that I knew who, and how something bad was going to happen. I was so convincing that he literally turned white if not a little green. I scared the living crap out of this guy.

A few days later, I went to the hardware store, which was owned by one of the people involved. So I bought a bunch of 6" lengths of 1" pipe, with caps, which might seem like the makings of pipe bombs. Then he turned white. I actually needed them for an engineering project.

For the first time, I had those guys on the run. Then I contacted the DOJ when I knew the cops were involved. And that was the end of that! :D

Oh yes, the Karma, I finally learned some of the details of what happened, several years later. Someone who was neutral but who had direct knowledge told me who beat the crap out of our goat. As it turned out, the guy behind it was also a fairly major pot dealer. I knew he sold small quantities but nothing big. But apparently he thought I did know due to a mutual "friend". When I said something bad was going to happen and left it open to interpretation, he got word and assumed that I was turning him in. He completely freaked and was afraid to continue his pot business. He was just sure that any day, the cops might show up and search his house. Apparently I put him out of business for quite a long time. And he probably heard that the DOJ got involved. I can only imagine how much money that goat cost him.
