Why can't the site owner come on here and explain to the members, especially those who donate to his/her site, what the problem is?

If I was donating money here, I would be asking for an explanation from the owner. Something is seriously wrong and the owner is either out to lunch and doesn't care or is just lazy in fixing the problem.

I mean wouldn't you want your customers to feel welcomed and appreciated for their contribution to your business? This problem has been going on for months now and all we get is a mod saying,"The owner knows and is as frustrated as you are".

Is it to much to ask the owner to make an appearance and explain the issue? I mean, is that to much to ask?

As of right now no money has been donated for December and that is needed for basic maintence and other stuff, but considering the performance of the site over the last 4 or 5 months, has any maintence been done with the money collected?

Valid question I think. Owner needs to make an appearance and explain things that are going on.

How does anyone make a donation seeing the issues of the site not getting fixed?????

So true, TH. I certainly don't profess to be a geek, but have spent enough time around computers to know they don't 'heal' themselves. Either there's something wrong with the hardware, software... or we're being hacked. Sometimes things run just fine (like today)... sometimes it locks up and takes 2 hrs to post one single post (like last night).

I keep getting the feeling the owner just hopes it will fix itself without any effort on his/her part. Must be a liberal.

I confess... I made a donation last month. I spend a lot of time here and for awhile, things were running OK so I broke out the checkbook. Soon afterwards, things went to hell again. It'll be my last donation until they fix things. I guess thinking our donation money would encourage them to UPGRADE the site is really dreaming, eh? :omg:

You're right about one thing... an appearance by the owner acknowledging the problems exist would be greatly appreciated.

The site is getting fixed, bit by bit. Just because the owner doesn't inform you of this, doesn't mean others are not informed. I can assure you that things are happening.

Thank you for responding, Mak. As you can see, you're the only mod who has responded which leads one to believe they don't know what to say. We've heard "the owner has been notified" several times on other threads which also leads one to believe the mods are not involved in 'the fix.'

None of us want to see this forum go down the tubes, but months of database errors and periods of extremely slow posting is trying our patience. At least it's trying mine.

It's working great tonight. Kudos to whoever did what after we were locked out for 2 hrs last night. I have little faith it'll stay that way. Do you think the owner could let you know when it's really FIXED and y'all could post a sticky about it? All this on-again-off-again is aggravating.

It's a saying I use when things aren't running the way they're supposed to. Liberals aren't known for their problem-solving skills. ;)

This site has been running slow from time to time for years!

With claims its getting fixed please donate.lol
I think they charge moderators to moderate. lol
Bit by bit what a joke.

Other sites just as big or bigger run good with no donations asked.

shoot if it ran good I would pay a small fee

The problem is that when we think its fixed, something else goes wrong. We have an improvement from some months ago, which is good, although thikngs are not yet perfect.
It's just a matter of working out what to do that is not an inconvenience to people here. Sometimes the simplest solution is the hardest. But I asure you, the Admin is fully aware of what is going on, and is spending much time trying to fix things.

Good to hear... I logged off last night after waiting 7 minutes to post one response. It's obviously not fixed yet, so please don't quit working on it.

(took 9 minutes (8:33-8:42) to post this response)

I know virtually nothing about computers, so I have no idea about the technical aspect of things. But I am aware that there have been a few updates to the database, a few changes here and there. Basically what we are told is happening. Someone more tech savvy than me might be able to explain it better.

    Your aware of some updates?

Who is telling you these things and why can't they tell the rest of the community what is going on b/c you can't explain it yourself.

I think the site's being hacked. Buy a bigger firewall.

The Admin doesn't have enough time to explain every tiny little thing to people who demand to know everything that is going on. Just trust that the Admin is working on things.

Explain all the little things? What has been going on isn't a little thing. It's been pretty massive and widespread I think.

Who is the admin? Trust him/her with what?

I don't know the details, I know nothing about what goes on when you update things. I just know when an update is taking place because we are informed of it.

And the Admmin is the Admin, why would you think they couldn't be trusted?

Not that anybody cares, but the site's slow as molasses this morning. It's very frustrating. Please tell the Administrator with the Upgrades that whoever they are & whatever they're doing... isn't working.

    thanks

The problem is that when the site is slow for some, it isn't slow for everyone else, so we can't be sure if the problem is with the site or with the individual computer being used. That is what makes it more difficult to fix, the fact that not everyone is experiencing the same problems.

That's not a common problem for most of us, Mak. We talk... EVERYONE agrees the site is frustratingly slow sometimes. And most of us use multiple computers so that's not really relevant either. If the site's running slow when I'm at work, it's still running slow on my home computer. The problem isn't on our end... it's on yours.
