China has also rewritten their Constitution, so this appears to be a trend.

Also worth pointing out, the original US Constitution did not have term limits for President.

Many of the framers supported a lifetime appointment for presidents, selected by Congress and not elected by the people.

Appears to be a trend? Where? Besides Russia, China, NK, Syria, Cuba, Belarus.

These right-wingers are sounding very communist. How ironic.

Just your average fear mongering. Same thing said about Obama and Bush.

Thom Hartman was talking about how the US Super Elite have been working to make massive changes in the constitution to give themselves more rights and the people of the US less. I think he needs 34 States to agree for it to be considered and understand there already are around 17 who have agreed. I did not know your constitution did not have limits for President. ;)

No, he'll simply switch jobs with Medvedev again and keep the authority he has like he did last time.

Well, he can't do that forever, ya know.
And I think the Russians are fed up with it too.

I think a more likely scenario is Putin turning Russia into a parliamentary federal republic (on paper, of course) and making himself eternal prime minister with the president being reduced to ceremonial figure. Many Russians like to point to Germany and the U.K. where their prime ministers can stay in power for extended period of time.

No, Russian government is cracking down on Russians more with every day. They passed a law recently about insults to the government and many people are being prosecuted even for criticizing police. With such law, they can change the constitution to make him eternal prime minister and jail people who just speak out. Previously they’d arrest people who show up in meetings. Now you can be arrested for a Facebook post or a comment in a blog.

Then they are faced by a second Bolshevik Revolution. How about that?

Have no idea - what to discuss? Bloomberg released the article referring to "sources" and interpretations. UA-garbage-news-wire reprinted the text.
