You are confusing kicking them out, with allowing them to join in the first place. Individuals with an amputation can not join, but they can still serve, for a great many years even, if they got the amputation while serving. Not unlike how I repeatedly injured my knees while serving. My knees now would not let me join, but because I am already in I am allowed to continue serving. But nobody has yet to show us how being transgendered is a military caused trauma. In fact, from what most people who support it try to claim it is how they are and natural. Therefor it is impossible to be service connected.
