Slogans and appeals to emotions is all they have.

Mass hysteria rules, and it seems at fever pitch in Los Angeles. A major psyop by the media.

What irritates me is exactly that sloganeering that we've had repeated ceaselessly for a year now. Frontline heroes, be-smart-stay-apart, don't-share-your-air, valley of death, close everything, surging surges and waves atop waves - it's like he wants to cause a panic attack. I just wonder why, if the virus is truly as bad in LA as Mayor Garcetti said, do his residents need to be forced to stay home via executive order? In his own words, "the valley of death is in front of" LA. Apparently, Angelinos cannot sense that risk for themselves and need to be forced to stay home by government. That is what his and all the other similar guidance conveys in the end anyway.

At this point, I bet the split public opinion on vaccines and lockdowns conceals a great deal of pure contrarian spite after the last year of moral lecturing infused with medical guidance, and I can't blame anyone for it.

Is LA a bastion of Trump loving science denying far right wing Covidiots now? I thought that’s the demographic spreading this virus around? Weird.

I live in Los Angeles. Traffic is still bad, so it doesn't look like many are staying at home. One of my sons lost his job at a restaurant while the other is working long hours at UPS. Last time, Garcetti told us not to go to work and enjoy the parks and beaches. A few days later, he closed the parks and beaches.

I plan on riding my R1 through the canyons and taking my dog on a hike this weekend. I will try to avoid the mask police!

'Mass hysteria rules" includes full hospitals, including patients from states with no rules overloaded by the pandemic.

But now that California and other big
medical centers hospitals fill up, the no-rules have simply are going into their usual mode of some severely ill patients are just sent home to die.

The USA has had that policy for decades, and it will be applied vigorously .

Get your flu shots. This is not a time to go to the hospital with anything.

Word. Yeah, I can't imagine the CA beach-goers not going to the beach. One would think it's good to get sun and freah air. Your son may have a look at the programs being implemented to see what the state can do now for him since it is putting folks like him in hard places. Lots of stuff that people ignore unless it's a stimulus check, I've found recently.

Be safe and enjoy! I may go for a blast this weekend as well if it stays dry.

My son lives at home and is a full time college student. He will be fine. I think the beaches are open as long as people are walking and not sunbathing. Keep the rubber side down!

Humans in general have been long known to be hypochondriacs. Americans in particular. We likes our drugs and a certain segment responds very well to ads promoting products that "may cause dizziness", "may cause 4 hour erections" and "may cause death". Are you one of those Dave?

    Nope.

And almost people in the COVID wards are not "hypochondriacs", even when they feel like they do to be hypochondriacs.

Just as people who claim "they never have had the flu and are in perfect health" until they actually get the REAL flu or heart failure (often from inadequate potassium) or a hidden heart defect or poisoned by botulism or take hydroxychloroquine religiously (like Trump).

The health arrogance is astounding in America for the people who are able to feel so well with their health regimen, until they aren't. I hear them whining in every hospital by the betrayal they feel in the world's 'injustice' against their 'perfect life.'

Yes and thank you. Being alone in a helmet and going through a tank of gas is the best therapy!
