Laguna Beach behind the Orange Curtain.

Laguna Beach is the most liberal city in the OC.

During the 60's and 70's it was the home of Timothy Leary's "The Brotherhood of Eternal Love" the second largest manufacturer and distributor of LSD in particular Orange Sunshine during the 60's.

Laguna Beach was also the only city in America that had a greeter to welcome you to Laguna Beach.

The Greeter has has died of old age and was replaced with a statue.

By the late 70's it was the only gay community in the OC but unlike West Hollywood or San Francisco the gays didn't push their homosexuality upon straights or demanded special protections or privileges or ran around wearing only jockstraps or engaged in buggery in public. So nobody had a problem with it.

By the 1980's Laguna Beach had a illegal alien problem and instead if dealing with the problem they aided and abetted criminality and became an unofficial sanctuary city.

    But I digress.

The problem that the Laguna Beach leftist have with the new Laguna Beach police cars isn't so much the "Stars and Stripes" but with the last three letters in the word POLICE.

    ICE, Immigration Customs Enforcement

I am an O.C. resident of over two decades. My wife is a local native.

Laguna Beach is the most upscale here in O.C. The beach is a place I visit often to surf, free dive, and party with family. With all that said, it is the rich white liberal home. My cousin has a 4 story mansion there with an elevator. She and her husband are Republicans and most of their friends are not their neighbors, but others outside of the community.

For them to worry about the U.S. Flag on a cop car is a joke. What a bunch of virtue signalling frauds. Where is their Section 8 housing? Where is their low income residents?

    They live an elite life.

Where keeping up with the Joneses is no longer about that extra vehicle you don't need, or sending Jr. to an expensive out of state college, but who can signal progressive platitude the hardest.

San Diego has its La Jolla where the rich elitist live along with Surf Nazis.

    True story. Nice post!

I went to school at UCSD (La Jolla) on the cliffs over Blacks Beach and with a view of La Jolla coves from Tioga Hall. I had to bust my ass working full time at a gas station, grocery store, and then law firm to afford school. Many of those kids (UCSD) came from Marin County and where silver spooned *******s.

I was blessed to grow up skiing near Squaw Valley and then from college (La Jolla) on to live in O.C. (With a short stint in Las Vegas and Sacramento). You will find the truly "chill" people of all those affluent areas are the entrepreneurs that are self made. They are not the legacy elite Leftists that have inherited. Most surfers are rugged individualists and want no part of an overbearing authoritative government. People would be surprised at the large volume of watermen/waterwomen that care not for the Democratic Party in its current form.

Fun Fact: I am an average surfer, but was an extremely high level skier. I just find more stoke, chill, and love in the water than on the snow.

UCSD is sitting on where Camp Mathews use to be before the Marines moved their rifle range up the road to Edson Range, Camp Pendleton. When they deactivated Camp Mathews in 1962 they gave it to the state of California who built UCSD in the site.

    Camp Mathews

Then there was the Pump House Gang in La Jolla.
Kinda a sad story. Surfing is a life style and some surfers were scared of becoming old.
