    No evidence of that.

    Just more of your whataboutism.

It can be true either way, which is why you keep asked for data.

Oh b*******.... It's called reality. Me and my two friends even got in the truck and went to look for the scumbag.

You're in far More danger from reckless drivers than you will ever be from gun owners. If you wish to deny that you can go ahead and do that but anyone that has a clue that ever had to drive on public roads knows better.

1st study: Still doesn't eclipse the number of DGUs so you're welcome.

Additionally, 1st study mentions that more than 30% of the non fatal firearm victimizations it cites are no police report, self reports only.
So please do complain some more about the validity of self reporting.

A firearm was used for self-defense in 2% of nonfatal violent victimizations

Then there's this: However, the victim was not present during the majority (82%) of property crimes captured by the NCVS.

A firearm was used in self defense against 1.7% of nonfatal violent victimizations. The total was 166,900 over a 4 year period which is less than 42,000 DGUs per year. That doesn't include self defense against fatal victimizations but in those cases if the victim used a firearm defensively then they were not very successful. There are over 450,000 non-fatal firearm victimizations per year. So it looks like guns are much more likely to be used to victimize than to defend oneself against being victimized.

    Look again, sport:
    Threatened/attacked with a firearm 166,900 † 1.7 † 183,300 † 1.4 †
350,200 defensive uses. 87,550 per year

what crap. several anti gun studies that claim having a "gun in the home" greatly increases the chance of an occupant being shot, were mainly cases where the gun that was used to shoot an occupant was not stored or kept in the home, nor owned by an occupant but rather where the weapon was brought to the home by the shooter.

gun banners see gun ownership/possession being the harmful act-rather than seeing lawful gun ownership in a different light than armed criminals. So gun banners mix lawful gun ownership with unlawful gun ownership and pretend they are the same thing

    ^ From your study.

It certainly doesn't support your claim that criminal gun usage "doesn't eclipse the number of DGUs".

Something tells me this study is like the others where the group examined already has high rates of violence, criminal histories, and drug and alcohol usage.

Until someone actually reads their study (they don't) and breaks down for them why it's stupid.

They, of course, ignore the facts and keep spouting nonsense obtained by nonsense methods.

It says there's another reason people don't report DGU's.

    Imagine that.

People choose not to die over breaking the law when they live in places like CA where self defense with a firearm is basically illegal.

You've just argued that DGU's are more common, because people don't report them for the reason you gave.

    Congratulations.

    Subjective.
I think a verbal warning to the trespasser would have been sufficient. If the trespasser threatened you or vowed to do it again then a firearm display would have been appropriate, but brandishing a firearm without a threat is offensive use.
As I stated shooting a coyote not actively threatening your "CHATTELS" is offensively deleting a potential threat to your chickens.

Objective: You have started with OFFENSE, I respond therefore with DEFENSE. If you don't like getting a gun pointed at you, stay on your own property or on public property. Do not cross on to private then claim I'm on offense for repelling you.

    Coyote: See trespass.

No now I'm using emphasis to point out how absurd, logically speaking, the argument you make is.

    LOL

You must use the numbers in context. The paragraphs you are selecting those numbers from are reported reasons for ownership, not actual defensive use.
