For what reason? It won't add to sea level.

Primarily because it is but one indication amongst many which confirm the accuracy of what most climate scientists and concerned global citizens worry about. It is also going to be pretty cool to see.

Even if you believe it's an AGW event the term "worse" is subjective. Throughout human history warmer eras have always been better eras for mankind so it could be argued that this event portends a better outcome not a worse.

I'm sure many areas will benefit from increased temperatures and many will suffer. My biggest concern involves the speed with which this is happening and the inevitable inability of life forms (including humans) to adapt because of it. We also live in a different world today with far less migration ability and diverse national priorities eliminating the ability to simply move without turmoil and warfare.

I hate to sound like a broken record but even in very recent times the climate has changed much faster than it is changing today. You true believers really need to educate yourselves on the little ice age era where farmland and entire towns were being engulfed by rapidly growing glaciers that eventually retreated just as rapidly. Man survived and species did too.

It does not really matter, if you are correct then we have nothing to worry about, If I am correct there is nothing we can do about it anyway....I hope YOU are right.

Have a think before you type. Conspiracy theorists need to come across as 'more'. What 'more' means is a difficult one, but its certainly not your position of pretending not to understand

Well then, I bet you never set foot out of your house due to...risk. Let's see. Maybe you are talking about the risk of falling off the ice shelf. Naw, bet you are just spouting nonsense again.

You think risk referring to environmental disaster is akin to stepping out the house? That describes your position very neatly. Well done.

What do you think climate change involves? Britain making more wine?

The speed of change is impacting on the risk factor. Bit obvious really

Warmer is not better. Not when you live anywhere but a cold climate. It's a terrifying thought, actually.

Will the iceberg be as big as all of Canada and half of the USA combined? because that is how much ice melted in the last 20000 years.........

Are you saying that ice shelves calving is a disaster? Are you not aware that this is a natural occurrence? Are you aware that the scientists watching the Larson ice shelf do not equate the calving to anything other than business as usual?

Calving only happens when the shelf gets TOO HUGE AND CAN'T SUPPORT ITS OWN WEIGHT..........So there is plenty of ice there kids

I'm saying we know the disaster is happening (perhaps excluding you and David Icke types). The issue is speed and the extent we have any control on reducing the impact (thus the focus on actuary)

What disaster is happening, the ice always breaks off when it gets to the ocean

What disaster? Greening of the Sahel? Greening of the Earth? More arable land? Milder temperatures? Less water uptake from plants increasing water use? All of mankinds advances have been made during warm periods like the Roman, Medieval, and the current Modern warm periods.

Your disaster is based on tabloid gnashing of teeth and the RCP 8.5 most unlikely computer scenario and not on observed science.
