Clapper, former CIA director, former DNI chief, and prolific liar, is feeling the heat. Clapper who's likely never given testimony in which he didn't perjure himself, is being called to account for his crimes. With the corrupt Holder & Lynch out of the way, and the shady FBI directors Mueller & Comey, Clapper might at last be prosecuted. With the Patriot Acts recent re-authoriztion, can we ever trust that the US covert surveillance apparatus won't be abused again? Why hasn't the GOP rallied behind Rand Paul, who advocates much stricter oversight? If republicans think they can turn this program of surveillance to their own political advantage, they're no more fit for office than the Obamas cabal. Privacy VS security is a real issue, Especially with many of Clapper, Holder, Lynch, Mueller, and Comeys cohorts still inside the agencies. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/l...atute-of-limitations-runs-out/article/2646146

What's the punishment for lying to Congress?

Protecting our security and privacy should NOT be a mutually exclusive proposition, and no - we can't trust people like Lyin' Jim Clapper and his boss in the White House whose flagrant disregard and contempt for the rule of law is the greatest legacy of his failed presidency. We all should be advocating stricter oversight of this program.

Punishment? Holder was found in contempt of congress yrs. ago ... nada. That's why the DOJ needs to impanel a grand jury ASAP. Congress has requested a 2nd special counsel to do justt that.

The desperate attempts to divert the attention of the Trump Justice Department Special Counsel and Republican-run Senate and House investigative committees into a hostile foreign power's covert efforts to pervert a US presidential election are having negligible impact. It is a matter of national security that transcends partisan pom pom flailing.

Trump isn't a member of the permanent political class that is the swamp. He hasn't for decades consorted, and conspired with corrupt agency officials for political, or financial gains. This thread is about the prospect of Clapper being prosecuted for perjury committed in 2013. There are plenty of Trump bashing, liberal echo chambers for you to rant on ... please utilize one.

Charges stemming from perjury committed by Clapper in 2013 have what to do with Trump? :confuse:

Are the quotes made by the congressmen fabricated? No ones actually seeking to have Clapper prosecuted? It isn't established, by Clappers own letter of apology, submitted to committee, that he gave false testimony? You'll need to try a bit harder ...

Trump Justice Department Special Counsel and Republican-run Senate and House investigative committees into a hostile foreign power's covert efforts to pervert a US presidential election are a separate and distinct matter.

Hyper-partisans bray about "Clapper, Holder, Lynch, Mueller, and Comeys cohorts", consistent with Trump's raving about public servants in the US intelligent services being the equivalent of "Nazi Germany!", but conflating accusations against Clapper in a paranoid persecution conspiracy will not work.

Clapper's conduct is his own, and must be dispassionately addressed. Shrill cries of "Lock him up! Lock him up!" are not helpful.

You can if you wish. I do not to lash out in hyper-partisan rage in presumptuous prejudgement one way or another, but prefer to allow proper legal proceedings for the adjudication of such matters wherever warranted.

Yawn. Clapper was accused long ago. Holder & Lynch most certainly refused to prosecute him. Mueller & Comeys crimes predate Trump as well. It's taken 8 yrs. for the GOP to be put in a position to prosecute the corruption. Trump paved the way by appointing a new AG, and firing Comey.

LOL - Talk about partisan pom pom flailing.

Don't worry, Leatherstocking - you can obsess over your nothingburger while the world moves on without you and your diversion. Lyin' Jim Clapper lied to the People's Representatives and has to be held accountable for his actions.

Which is precisely why hyper-partisans shouldn't be braying about "a hostile foreign power's covert efforts to pervert a US presidential election" in a discussion concerning a separate matter.

Of what crimes have Mueller or Comey or Trump been indicted? Of what crimes have Mueller or Comey or Trump been prosecuted? Of what crimes have Mueller or Comey or Trump been convicted?

I subscribe to the rule of law rather than the hysterical "Lock him up! Lock him up!" lynch mob frenzy of hyper-partisan zealots.

Odd. They somehow managed the seemingly endless fatwa directed at Hillary Clinton that resulted in no criminal charges.

Not saying you, but any development into the Mueller investigation draws at least a dozen threads in this forum.
