    @Pollycy

    That Rioja is called "Campo Viejo" or "Old fields".
    The blend is Crianza and the vintage is 2017.
    Vineyard is from Logrono established 1850.
    So it may well be from one of the original vines.
    Rounded, deep and well blended. And VERY Moreish!

    I think you should file a complaint with the moderators. You are being treated VERY unfairly!!!

    @Pixie

    Yes! Very carefully decanted, and then given a good half hour to breathe....

    Newly registered posters don't usually get into fights with, and then give the silent treatment to, several different long time posters, none of them allies of the others, and all in the same thread. Impressive.

    Funny! I advocate that ALL teachers get hazard duty pay. I love my two more than anything in the world but there is no way in hell that I could handle a classroom full of them. ;-)

    Now an update for 2022: The third Thursday in November is near again!

    Will you try to get the Primeur again?

    When I was at catering college my food and beverage tutor described Beaujolais Nouveau as nothing more than a marketing exercise. His argument was that there was nothing special about it other than being the first new wine of the season.

    Beaujolais? If you're going to drink any of that stuff, it should at least be something quality, like Moulin-à-Vent.

    [IMG]. Best enjoyed while 'young'... like lovely, nubile French girls.... [IMG]

    Once upon a time we lived in Lome, Togo. The arrival from France each year of the Beaujolais Nouveau was a big deal among the (mostly French) expatriate community.

    Holy cow, Jack! No offense intended, but if I had to live in a place like Togo, I'd probably want to be half-drunk from sunrise to sunset, and most of the night, too. Beaujolais could 'do the trick', and, the price would be right. But, TOGO?! I think gin-and-tonic would be my preference if I were stuck there for any length of time -- gallons of it.... :alcoholic:

    But, maybe I shouldn't be so critical. Now that we're stuck with Democrats in firmly in power of the White House AND the Senate for at least another two years, it's very possible that Washington D. C. will look at lot more like Togo by 2025 than it already does.... :puke:

    Actually, Lome was a pretty pleasant beach resort town. My west African stops also included Lagos and Monrovia, so I'm able to compare.

    Yes! Beaujolais!
    I live quite near to France.
    On the third Thursday in November 2022 I just went across the River Rhine and bought 2 cases there.

    6 bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau (Standard)

    6 bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau Villages

    I love Moulin-à-Vent best of all the Beaujolais... and it actually ages well, too!

    The Primeur is NOT there for the aging - but for enjoying before the New Year. :)

    Well, no, it ain't a 'noble' red, certainly... but this one and several others age fairly well. Indeed, it's not like these upscale Beaus resemble La Romanee Conti, La Tache, or Richebourg, but they're pretty tasty, nicht war?

    Fun-Question:
    What do Beaujolais Nouveau and Christmas Markets and Glühwein have in common?

    Answer: There are lots of people who do not know anything about them.
    Have never tried Glühwein or Beaujolais Nouveau, never ever visited a Christmas Market.
    But they know for sure that all those three things are terrible!

    Important note: I am not referring here to anybody in this forum, but to some persons in Germany.
    That way they think that they show themselves as experts or "connaisseurs".
    Something they clearly are NOT. :)
