When I lived there we experienced a drought so they said that everyone should conserve their water. We did and then they said they weren't making enough off of water to fund the government so they jacked up their rates. That's how stupid they are out there.

The solution is greater local autonomy. Change to a confederation, pass amendments to substantially decrease Federal power, or failing that allow them to secede. One size fits all is tyranny.
