I am more surprised the B is still in there. A lot of gays and lesbians really do not like the B's. They see them as G's that refuse to fully be out.

Nah, they just don't like them because it shows that sexual orientation has an element of choice and they want sexuality to be entirely about identity.

Everyone questions what it means. There is is a lot of questioning and confusion related to the Q. I'm sure once they are done questioning they will be back to just LGBT or IAP but maybe an A doesnt ever question....

Bisexuality doesn't show that sexuality is a choice. There are only 4 possibilities. You are attracted to men, you are attracted to women, you are attracted to both, or you are attracted to neither. Now you can be attracted to both, but favor one more than the other, but you are still attracted to both.

Now those who don't like bisexuals might be like that because they imagine that it shows a choice, but it simply isn't reality.

Queer. It's an attempt to reclaim the word as no longer a slur, much as gay has been reclaimed. However, it seems that queer has been adopted a gender identity (along the same lines as transgender but not the same) variant dealing with being variable between the two poles.

This is why I would like to see them get away from the LGBT-alphabet soup it's become. They keep adding and/or removing letters at whim and to some...as a CIS White Male I don't say the current proper keyboard mashing generated password, I'm considered to be an intolerant prick.

This is why I'd love to see them go with SAGA. Sexuality And Gender Awareness.

    Gay? Covered.
    Trans? Covered.
Vegesexual? Weird...but even Bill the Cat is covered.
Straight, CIS but wants to be an ally and see their friends protected by basic human rights? Covered.
    Poly? Covered
Something that's been around for a while but only recently the Media's gotten wind of it and is using it to win the ratings sweeps? Got you covered AND...without having to add a "QRSΦΣΩ" to it.

    It is actually LGBTQIAA+
I had to look it up because it had gotten so... “inclusive” that you cannot remember it. It loses its meaning and seems to do the opposite of what it was intended to do.

I personally have always liked a single letter Q. It can stand for queer which @Maquiscat said above is to reclaim a slur, it is also inclusive of any group in the current one plus it can stand for questioning... It also now has the extra benefit of dismantling the conservative conspiracy theory group q overnight.

    Win-win-win

    They could even do Q+
Or maybe Q with a plus sign in it
Marking and events would surely be easier

    or a rainbow this thing:

If you remove the L from LGBT it sounds less like a sandwich.

    Well, that's just false.

First of all, often the press mixes up the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association when they refer to the "APA." The Psychology one has their website address as APA.org. The Psychiatry one has their website address as Psychiatry.org. The latter is the one that publishes the DSM, not the former. Hell, many people don't even know the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist. So the confusion is understandable.

But anyway, neither association has issued the statement you are claiming.

In the case of the American Psychiatric Association, it was just a typo in the first print version of the DSM-V, which has been immediately corrected online and then corrected in subsequent reprints:

https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/813669#:~:text=The APA adds pedophilic disorder, sadism disorder, and fetishistic disorder.

In the case of the American Psychological Association, they didn't even go there in the first place.
