Yes indeed, conservatives hate the idea of their offspring being exposed to all those socialist/communist ideas. So, keep them away. Thing is, it's a challenge to teach quantum Physics in the basement. Things like music, art, philosophy, history are non-starters anyway, so no problem. There's always Trump U. Oops, no there's not.

But all those liberals in college?

There would be mass shootings every other day as all conservatives love guns!

    except for one big problem.

Because of fears of discrimination lawsuits (championed by liberals) major employers are not willing to require job applicants to pass aptitude tests.

So "do you have a degree" has become a screening tool by employers.

Conservatives should join the University of Chicago.

There's plenty of Christian Universities out there among the cow plains of America. Now, whether or not a degree from one of those "Christ-centered" institutions carries any real weight in a secular world compared to the rest, I do not know.

Historically, undermining education has been the way conservative forces have always been the ones that destroy their own empires. The Roman Empire imploded when the Dark Ages brought a contempt for knowledge and Science, as other nations in Europe embraced it and abandoned the Empire. The Chinese Empire saw the end of the Ming Dinasty as they isolated themselves from Europe and shut themselves out from the new Sciences.. And the once powerful Spanish Empire collapsed because, while the rest of Europe thrived thanks to new developments in Engineering on building bigger and faster ships to conquer the seas, the Inquisition banned the books that would have taught them how to modernize their navy.

There are two possibilities: Either the Republicans self-destroy only themselves as they become more and more anti-Science and anti-Education; or their lot wins the internal battle and bring down America's leadership in the world. Just like the anti-education crowd did in Europe, China, Spain... and all empires that have ever existed..

Trump is certainly trying his best to bring us down.

"Has become"? when was having a degree not considered by employers to be an asset?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the Dark Ages were declared over a while back. You might want to check...

What ever happened to intellectual honesty and inquiry? Seems the marketplace of ideas that is supposed to challenge young minds on a college campus has devolved into nothing but a far-left echo chamber churning out scores of automatons who can regurgitate the latest Media Matters talking points and little else. Not only can these little sycophants not think their way out of a wet paper bag, they literally need therapy when confronted with an idea that doesn't fit their tidy little world view. Seems people like you are OK with this. Gets a guy to wondering why...

If only today's typical institutional learning facility actually provided an education...

Well, you're wrong. What evidence do you have to support your preposterous assertion? Furthermore, of what relevance to the topic? Reminder: *I* am not the topic.

Take a look at the link of the top 10 majors.
You will see they are very good on providing education.

See, it must be your info source for your confusion.

You are not the topic, but you are spreading false information.
I responded to your next post with a link. Showing what the top 10 majors are for graduates. They are getting an education.
I work with several 20 somethings, they are very well educated, especially those that graduated college.

So, go ahead an support your link if you think you have a foundation for your premise.

Thank you for your typical worthless ad hom -- the refuge of intellectual vacancy. Perhaps you could try to actually reply to the topic -- which is not me.

Intellectual inquiry is dead on campus. Free speech is dead on campus. Spirited debate is dead on campus. Political correctness, trigger warnings, and therapy animals have taken their place. Regurgitation of approved talking points earns the young squire high marks... critical thinking or disagreeing with academic orthodoxy may earn a trip to the dean's office. Socrates is lucky he is dead... otherwise he'd be choking on his own vomit.

The article does not in any way infer they are good at providing an education. It may provide a piece of paper that may lead to a job. But that does not mean it's an education.

It's the hottest job market in years for the expected 1.9 million students who will graduate. Employers are estimated to hire about 5 percent more graduates from the class of 2016 than last year, according to a recent report by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
    https://www.cnbc.com/2016/05/16/college-grads-enjoy-the-best-job-market-in-years.html

You are certainly free to believe as you wish.
But out of 1.9M graduating, I'd say the vast majority received an education.

But as I said before, feel free to show us that those 1.9M graduated didn't get educated.

And by all means, RWer, don't send your kids to school. Send them to work at age 8. See how well they do in life.

I wonder what starting pay for the average college grad is vs the average starting pay for a high school drop out.

Perhaps our resident RWers have those numbers. Since education is what they are against.

I am stating an opinion. An opinion cannot be false. Try again.

    Which proved nothing.

No. They are simply being taught what to think. Very rarely are they taught how.

Your empiricism is easily refuted. I manage young, college-educated "professionals." Some are good -- largely because they grew up in an environment that valued a work ethic. Most are barely literate cubicle drones who literally freeze at the slightest challenge and need more "mental health days" than any employer would give out.

Education is the most worthy pursuit of human undertaking. It's too bad it is so hard to find.

    In fact I did.

And opinions can be false. If you're of the opinion the earth is flat, your opinion is false.

But I have said now for the 3rd time, feel free to show proof 1.9M/yr graduates are not getting educated.
So far, just your opinion. Which I proved above, can be wrong. And always is wrong, when based on wrong information or partial information.
