Alabama mother begs to return to US, says moving to Syria and marrying ISIS fighters was 'a big mistake'​

With U.S.-backed forces closing in on ISIS in Syria, young mother Hoda Muthana is pleading for a second chance and the opportunity to return home to her family in Alabama.


"I realized I've made a big mistake and I know I've ruined my future and my son's future and I deeply, deeply regret it," she said in an interview with The Guardian newspaper.


Muthana is one of 1,500 foreign women and children living in a Kurdish-run refugee camp in northern Syria. . . . .

She was 19 when she left. Not a child.
She doesn't look as though she is suffering . She looks well in the photo and so does her child.
I can't find it in me to forgive people, men or women who joined ISIS.

 

Sure and we can charge her with treason and put her on trial. That is the chance she can take. Her actions have consequences. She can also put herself in self exile. Maybe in 10 years she can petition to United States for leniency face a trial for treason and again take her chances if she can show she lived an ISIS's free life with no contacts to any anti-American or terrorist groups with respect shown towards the United States and some good in her life.

 

I'm a US Citizen by birthright and my parents were recruited to come here... All that to say that I'm even feeling guilty for being here, given the glut that America has to deal with. We need a moratorium on Visas, legal immigration - everything (yes that means my relatives too). The US is so past its saturation point here!

When it comes to this 'ISIS' mom, NO... Better focus on exporting millions of persons here illegally, visa overstays, non-documented convicted criminals... carte' blanche' sweep them all out of here & give them a ticket # for re-entry, if they meet the legislative threshold to do so. (they shouldn't)

Why are grown politicians acting like emotional adolescent girls here - we aint buying the 'rouse' btw. 'Man Up' personally, and as a Nation... Make the tough calls! What a sad story. Youthful zeal runs into political reality. In this case treason. Why not charge her as an enemy combatant? How would we know that her desire to return isn't just a ruse for her to self immolate and take hundreds with her?

 

CBS News reported today that Trump instructed
Sec. of State, she does not return!

Parents hired legal team to fight it claiming she is a citizen, etc.

CBS News also said she would probably face charges if she did
manage to return. Can't remember what charges exactly. so old

As she is a US citizens by birth rights an only a court might find otherwise of course she have a right to return to the US.

Now once she is on US soil the government is free to bring charges against her if they wish to do so.

 

They're free to try her in front of a military tribunal as an enemy combatant, too. Detained indefinitely, in fact. US citizen or not.

Anyone who engages, or aids, a terror organization is an "enemy combatant". It doesn't matter if they're captured on a battlefield.
