So you want poor people to sit in the dark at night? Rich folks can afford to pay what ever they want.
I mean, if you are really worried about the poor then you could always make the rich pay more taxes in order to support them. After all the rich have far more money as you said yourself.
Pie in the sky we've heard about for ever. The rich can hide their money well and it's the middle class left holding the collection plate.
You are purposely misrepresenting what Xyce said. He told you that he doesn't want you to control them, just consistently condemn them. And here you are demanding that he do exactly what he told you he didn't want you to do. Here...maybe larger and more vibrant words will help you....Here's what he said... There...does that help? Or should I make it bigger? And you will be hard pressed in the extreme to find anyone that supports school shooters. No matter what side of the political spectrum you are on. Both sides condemn such. The disagreement is in how to prevent such from happening.
Higher energy costs can't be avoided by the rich unless they reduce consumption. The poor will search out more energy efficient products and industry will cater to the market. The goal is not to raise money it is to reduce consumption. Higher costs is the best way to do that. Houses will be built with improved insulation, cars will get more MPG, household appliances will use less energy etc.
You still fretting about money? You withdrew from our previous debate about tax and 'fairness', when I posted a link which showed that acknowledging the requirement for fairness requires looking honestly at the real world. Something you are not able to do, obviously,...and you are not alone, eg some people are still claiming the Trinity doctrine is real. But to the point about cost: if man-made climate change is real, a transition to green need not 'cost' anything. Hint: The BIS said central banks might have to buy the fossil fuel industry, if the financial losses due to climate events become too great. And guess what: central banks can actually create money 'ex nihilo'...
For the past 4 years Democrats have had zero interest in "healing". I have a feeling - reading between the lines - that "healing" means submitting to a Democratic agenda of open borders, erosion of the 2nd Amendment, higher taxes, an emphasis on identity politics, shutting down domestic energy production, and once again "engaging the world community" which really means letting America get screwed over at every turn.
By relatively recently, you mean about 20-25 years ago. Now, China's the leading polluter(we're at about 13% in line with other first world countries), but hey the US has to "commit" or the others won't follow(hint: They still won't follow.)
The fact that you are no longer the manufacturing hub of the world does not excuse you for the climate sins of your past. Do you think China is going to take steps to reduce CO2 output if nobody else does? Besides, you are a major consumer of Chinese products and therefore liable for your share of their greenhouse gasses.
You keep interchanging "condemn" with "control." Both words start with "c," my friend, but they don't mean the same thing. Liberal logic may say otherwise; but I'm afraid that does not apply to reality. I am asking you to consistently condemn the Democrats, including the current standard-bearers of the party--Pelosi, Schumer, Biden, etc.--when they blatantly, hypocritically, uncaringly violate these COVID rules, or, as in Biden's case when Schumer called him, endorsed it. If you can do that, you can be taken seriously about lecturing the rest of us to follow these stringent COVID regulations. Until then, as I've said in my first post, please, be quiet. We've grown weary of your palpable hypocrisy.
You are missing the important point: there is an entire broken world out there that needs "healing". "Open borders"? We need an international system that promote sustainable development in ALL countries. "Erosion of the 2nd Amendment"? A "well-ordered militia" is required for a nation's defense*, yes...but military weapons for defense against one own neighbours? Better to reduce the economic unfairness manifested by generational unemployment , poverty and crime that is rife in the community. * better yet, get rid of the UNSC veto.... "Higher taxes"? 10% of the population hold 90% of the nation's household wealth, while the bottom 20% actually have negative wealth (av debt $8000) and 60% can't find $1000 from savings in a emergency. You are fretting about higher taxes on the 10%? "Emphasis on identity politics"? Get rid of the high incarceration rates among blacks for a start by getting rid of generational unemployment; stop jumping up and down about the nature of other peoples' relationships; reduce the factors leading to unwanted pregnancies etc etc. "Shutting down domestic energy consumption"? You have sufficient deserts to power the entire nation via solar/wind and battery backup. "Engaging the world community" ? Absolutely essential; as long as the virus exists anywhere, we are all at risk; as long as poverty and war exist, we will have refugees. But co-operative engagement with the world need not mean "America getting screwed over at every turn". That's just the result of present evil neoliberal free trade system in operation. In fact every person on the planet can be guaranteed above poverty participation in sustainable economic development. Think big, to begin the healing process.
"Jobs"? There was still c10% real un/under/hidden unemployment even at the height of Trump's jobs 'boom' with 3.7% official unemployment. Neoliberal monetarist economies (with money creation confined tot the private sector) CANNOT produce real full employment. "Prosperity"? For whom.... "You are living in poverty, your neighborhoods are like war zones,...." etc : DJ Trump, in the 2016 campaign. Lower taxes? 100 billionaires alone possess $1 trillion in wealth, and the top 10% of the population hold 90% of the nations wealth, so I'm sure you don't need to be fretting about higher taxes.
As an Australian I can tell you it gets expensive, not to mention the stress and mental health issues, loss of life, trauma...
Ah ha... the old lie that taxing the rich causes more poverty and instituting an above poverty minimum wage causes unemployment. Only in your evil neoliberal monetarist system, which guarantees soaring inequality and entrenched poverty side by side.
Oh I know. We are having more and more floods here in the UK due to extreme weather and the clean up is incredibly expensive.
"you are living in poverty, your neighborhoods are like war zones, your schools and hospitals are broken, your young men are in prison....." DJ Trump, in 2016. Who is "we"?
Let the healing begin. Let the 2024 campaign begin first! I have nothing against Democratic Voters -- possibly 78% of my fellow Jews voted Democrat. I have nothing against Liberals -- I agree with them on many issues such as gun control and Welfare. I am against anyone who actively pushes suppression of Free Speech. Hopefully millions of people will be against them.
High taxes, sir, cause income inequality. Guaranteed by human behavior. Add to it draconian rules and regulations and you guarantee flat job growth, low wages, and few jobs. And there is no such thing as an above poverty minimum wage. Might as well pass a law guaranteeing everyone a pink unicorn.
