It's not indifference, it is fact. Florida is never rebuilt, they never mentioned how much damage that hurricane Andrew did, or how areas effected by Andrew WERE NEVER REBUILT. Rebuilding is dumb in a hurricane zone, these areas need to be evacuated forever, or you are allowing more people to lose everything next year or the year after that.

    This is reality.

PS. Who is helping me take care of my home?

Well- let's see. We have hurricane zones on the east and south coasts. We have earthquake zones on the west coasts. We have tornado zones all throughout the middle. We have forest fire zones over most of the west. We have flood zones all over the place. Where shall we build that is risk-free?

Now a great many of these things are excluded from insurance coverage as "Acts of god". So many who have been diligent in taking care of their own property had no insurance. Houston flooded huge areas which were not in or near any flood plains, it we an exceptional event- the 500 or 1,000 year event. Not having flood insurance (homeowner's insurance does not cover floods) many lost everything- except the mortgage, which is still in force.

Now I'm not in favor of government becoming a free insurance for all emergencies and taxing you for it. I am in favor of helping our fellow man- voluntarily. That is why I put up the Houston post. So those who had the means and enough human kindness to reach out to those in a disaster and lend a hand, might do so. This is one of those things in life sometimes called "paying it forward", helping others because you have done well, or been lucky, or someone has helped you- motivating you to care, Some people won't; that's human nature.

All of those things together do not equal a level 5 cane, which can wipe out entire counties in line.

Again why should I rebuild a home in Houston when they are not helping me?

Has the devastation from Hurricane Andrew been repaired? NOPE

It's simple. If you don't want to help- don't.

If we all did nothing for anyone else until they did something for us.... I don't think any of us would feel good about ourselves or others.
Maybe that's why we do things like this, to share the burden in times of crisis- like the old settlers helping raise a barn or bring in a crop when someone was down, because they know if the situation was reversed, that person would be there helping them. I've done that all my life, and I have no regrets, and I do have good feelings and friends as a result. That's enough, at least for me.

    It's your choice. No requirement.

That's the type of behavior he is condemning. Honesty, integrity, all of which we severely lack today. Are you without wisdom or understanding, that for 1,000's of years there was no medical licenses, people helped one another simply as we should. Broken leg, the doctor fixes you up, and you might pay him with a coat, or exchange in labor on his land. Are you unfamiliar with "honor"? We lack these qualities due to big government and all their lies and deceptions, which has built our world off of the lies and deceptions, specifically to only benefit them.

Why is Houston more important than Florida?

Well why do you want Houston rebuilt but do not care about the people in Florida?
