Looks like trump voters were primarily comprised of non-collage educated whites, born again religious individuals (which is ironic seeing he is a two time adulturous billionaire bankrupt liar) and those over 55 years of age. Futhermore almost half of respondents that voted for trump did so because they didn’t like his opponent. On income the figures came in within the margin of error on upper income earners — but like y’all say the Democrats are buying the votes of the poor, even with the republicans buying the rich through flawed economic measures only half of them are voting for you.

Two of your three voting bases are declining year after year.

The repetitive lie narrative that follows in the above quote is easily exposed as such when it omits the necessary context that the Democrats won the bottom two income hexiles and almost always do so in various elections. Education is an abstraction, but whatever it means, as the Complex constantly tells us, more intelligence and education correlate strongly with more income. I would suggest that generally, income is a far more accurate determinant of true education than possession of this, that or those education products.

Why are gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM Complex denizens so apt to repeat the "less educated, evangelical, hillbilly, old white" Trump voter myth? Because the same mental defect that leads to their low level of political awareness and their "identity politics in lieu of policy" political ideology demands that they fallaciously label their opposition constantly and in grossly generalized ways. "Racisss! Misogynissss! Redneck! Evangelical! 1% Apologist! etc." is the modus operandi of those who preach "muhdiversity" "muhinclusion" "muhtolerance" at the rest of us day in day out... practicing NONE of those things themselves.

Does the nonleft engage in this fallacious generalizing labeling? Of course, but far less than the Left, who specializes in it. Let's do some of it right now as backlash. Since Democrats win the bottom two income hexiles handily, it's a fair claim that Democrats rely on the dregs of society, the least productive, the weak-minded and weak-willed, those of low character to get elected. See how that works? Just as valid as the "ignorant, hillbilly, old white" Trump voter narrative, more so even, but omits similar context.

Most people are intelligent and fair-minded enough not to engage in it unduly, regardless of how much educational product they have consumed.

An accurate assessment of Trump's base is the non government-dependent middle and upper middle taxpayers of the private sector, everything from doctors and engineers to lawn maintenance and barbers. Feel free to distort that generally accurate assessment via any cherrypicking you like. It's transparent when it becomes a lie of omission though.

Looks like any narrative attempting to negatively caricature, generalize, rationalize, cherrypick the results of the 2016 POTUS election that doesn't include the necessary context that Democrats win the dregs in income is a lie of omission. No amount of cherrypicking will change that.

Or here's an idea, why not hide the numerous insecurities of the LW-Complex by not blaring them out day in and day out via dishonest, generalizing narratives on one's political opposition?

Trump's "base" are the non government-dependent middle and upper middle taxpayers of the private sector. Throw scat all around that truth, won't change it one iota.

Any narrative on the qualities or nature of this or that contemporary U.S. politician's "base" that does not include comparative voter income data where available is a lie narrative via omission of necessary context. Simple as that.

WaPo is a left wing rag.

Asking it if Republicans are evil is like asking a Boston Red Sox fan about the New York Yankees.

Much like a malignant tumor, the republican party is not going anywhere in the united states. So the question becomes one of "what now?" since they are always going to remain present, and able to spread their beliefs to others.

If a liberal newspaper are calling the republicans the problem ,then that is a good sign that republicans are on the right track. Even though a lot of them have become too liberal for my tastes.

Ornstein and Mann have done seminal work on DC's dysfunction and while some fault can be assigned to both sides they correctly point out the GOP is largely responsible.

I had never heard that phrase but maybe you should look it up yourself as the definition does not fit here.

    I posted a source.
You disagreed with it but don’t have a source.

So unless you have something that directly proves your assertion I will take it as mere opinion

    Peppermint,

When Did the GOP Lose Touch With Reality?

    http://nymag.com/news/politics/conservatives-david-frum-2011-11/

Frum is a lifelong Repub but is intelligent enough to see how the extremist wing took over even before Don turned a once great party in to a mob with no respect for facts, institutional tradition, the law, or the very foundation on which the country was built.

Yes, and if Fox or one of the other alt-right propaganda machines put out a similar story blaming the Democrats for all problems in the US, you and most others on the right would be praising it.

Neither side is willing to take any blame for any problems in this country, and they condemn the other side while doing all the same things they condemning them for.

Arizona is another state [like Nevada] that is turning Blue rather quickly. Glad to see astronaut, Mark Kelly [Gabby Giffords husband] run for U.S senate.

Right next door is a governor whose logo was "courage, for a change'

You gonna start with Pelosi? The Idea that the problem is Republicans is so laughably absurd, one has to wonder exactly why the authors thought any one with a functioning brain would believe that clap trap. Is beyond me. The problem of course is that the REps took back control of one or both houses of congress since 1992 except for 4 years. So if you are a Rino or a Democrat annoyed that the that the seemingly inexarable march left has been interrupted of course the problem is Republicans. It can't possibly be that their years of pushing harder and harder to the left is finally run into an immovable object that is willing to push back.

Look up Mann's and Ornstein's profiles. Just because the article was published by the Wa Po doesn't mean the authors are liberals. From the article..........."We have been studying Washington politics and Congress for more than 40 years, and never have we seen them this dysfunctional. In our past writings, we have criticized both parties when we believed it was warranted. Today, however, we have no choice but to acknowledge that the core of the problem lies with the Republican Party."

At some point you folks need to realize the observations they make are fact based and have merit.
