That is an overly simplistic point of view. Capitalism has a natural rate of unemployment. Unequal protection of the law is one factor in capital inequality under our form of Capitalism.

Labor should have recourse to unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed in our at-will employment States.

It is not a question of money. Confiscation of wealth is simply another way to eliminate individual freedom. The goal of socalism is to reduce citizens to peasants by the elimination of all freedoms and liberty.

 

Sure. Promote responsible parenting and a work ethic, and welfare will improve. We agree.

 

Wouldn’t it be nice if that’s how progressives saw it? At some point you begin to become suspicious of whether or not they want improvement.

 

The balance is to tax enough that all the wealth does not accumulate at the top like it is doing now. When that happens the system fails just as surly as taking away to much discourages work.

We work, teach children to be responsible, don’t make stupid life choices that force us to be poor our whole lives, pay our taxes, and then support private charities and volunteer to help the less fortunate at rates much higher than leftists. You can’t fix the government and the government isn’t supposed to fix the poor problem. What are you doing?

Tell that to the kid whose single mom makes 25,000 a year and he wants to go to a 30,000 a year college so he can get out of poverty.

There's a reason they focus all of their attention on the Free First World (aka, where all the battles were fought and won last century). Because none of their 'compassion' is real. If it was real, they'd immediately acknowledge that we're good and safe here, and move their attention to REAL suffering.

 

My kids are paying for their own university education (we're okay, but we can't afford 3 x $120k degrees). Want to know how it's done? BY CHOOSING A COURSE WHICH WILL PROVIDE IMMEDIATE WELL PAID EMPLOYMENT.

Any kid who borrows money for school and then takes a course which doesn't pay well, or provide stable full time work, is a flaming idiot.

 

You obviously have no clue about how the system is stacked against the poor. From the obviously deliberate poor public education system where the schools are funded by local taxes guaranteeing the poor will get inferior educational opportunities to the college system where the elite colleges are corrupted by legacy entrants and the ability to buy your way in. The most recent idiotic scandal is the merest tip of the problem.

And of course our idiot Democratic canditates want to fix it by making college available to all because of course actually fixing the education system at the lower levels doesn't sound sexy enough to make a good one liner.

The corruption of both parties is obvious if one nly has the will to see.
