The Libertarian Party is nothing more than another corrupt statist organization. The Koch brothers are the Republican version of the Democrats George Soros, seeking corporate welfare via the statist lobby through corporate personhood.

The Great American Experiment was an advancement, but like all statist experiment had failed. It is time we learned the lesson and moved on.

"Social Darwinism" is a concept without merit, but all such association must be made and maintained voluntarily. It can not be forced by the state. Such enforcements is a direct infringement of Freedom of Association at the very least.

Remember kids, the "one percent" could have never become so powerful if not for the corruption and graft of government. No monopoly could exist without the state. Politicians peddle influence to men like The Koch Brothers and Soros.

"We support the removal of governmental impediments to free trade. Political freedom and escape from tyranny demand that individuals not be unreasonably constrained by government in the crossing of political boundaries. Economic freedom demands the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders"

    No thanks.

I understand where you are coming from. I think the Libertarian Party is like all political parties, if one digs through the crap there are gems here and there but hard for one to agree with everything. The best political party would be one that I form taking all the things I like from all other parties. Of course, with that plan, I would likely be the only member of my party and in the US we would have over 300 million political parties.

We need libertarians because they are the only people left who truly want to defend civil liberties in this country. The left are destroying civil liberties and the right would do the same if they had the power.

Libertarians are also the only people uniformly against stupid idiotic wars. Notice how much democrats support Bush had for his dishonest and stupid war? Somebody has to try and stop these neocons. One will be taking office on Jan 20th.

Why has EVERY attempt to implement the fantasy of Libertarianism FAILED?

The answer can be found at the link for those who are interested in the FACTS.

Something tells that NONE of those that ESPOUSE libertarianism will bother to find out for themselves.

    Prove me wrong!

I used to be a libertarian, mostly in my idealistic youth. As I aged, I realized the flaw in some of their reasoning.

They are right, I always say, but only as an educated guess, half the time. (insofar as foreign policy and a few other things, but on domestic policy, I believe they are wrong).

I'm all for personal responsibility, but if you extend that idea too far, in terms of policy, it becomes cruel.

That is where libertarians go off into la la land, policy wise. I'll give you an example,

Someone once asked Ron Paul, the famous libertarian congressman, if someone was bleeding on the streets, a man of 30 years who felt he didn't need insurance, and he had no insurance or money, should society pay for his treatment and ambulance ride?

His answer was 'now that what freedom is all about" ( paraphrased ).

His logic was the libertarian responsibility argument.

I used to accept that premise, but in many cases, the truth is not that clear cut, and the better solution is universal health care, that way, no one is allowed to die on the street, and the burden of it's support is shared collectively, which means it cheaper individually.

See, I don't look at the subject that way, it's a particular lens. Today, I recognize that some people are endowed with wisdom and some are not. In the forest, there are sunflowers and dandelions, Say a sunflower was crowding out the sun leaving none for the dandelion, do we say to the dandelion, 'all you have to do is be more like a sunflower'. That may sound good to a libertarian but to a liberal pragmatist, he would assert that as a society, with that policy, then we are letting people die on the street and is it the best we can do as a civilised society? As a liberal pragmatist, I would say that no way can a dandelion ever become a sunflower, even if it were theoretically possible, as the two are endowed differently, and we shouldn't punish those for their natural endowments. In other words, the wiser course is to create a public policy that accommodates everyone, and the burden of the policy is shared collectively resulting in it being cheaper for everyone at the individual level, by the elimination of the insurance layer.

See, it boils down to, 'what kind of society do we, who call ourselves 'civilized' want to be?'

It's really up to the voters, and whatever they decide, and that is democracy.
