There is it, more evidence that if the Democrats/Leftist can take away our right they would do it. Speech, freedom of assembly just two as we see when they try to ban conservative speech and if they can't then use violence to shut it down.

Lieu: ‘I Would Love to Be Able to Regulate the Content of Speech’ but First Amendment Stops Me

Rep. Ted Lieu (D., Calif.) said he would "love to be able to regulate the content of speech" during an interview Wednesday, noting he was prevented from doing that by the First Amendment.

Yeah that testy old Constitution and Bill of Rights that just keeps getting in their way.

So true. They want to confiscate your wealth and property and now have no problem limiting your speech if you complain about it.

Plenty of cons would limit free speech.

Why the dems honor the Constitution like pigeons honor statues. Nothing new, it goes back to President Wilson.

But this quote is from a Democrat, can we agree such a sentiment is dead wrong?

We saw it in the IRS scandal, and the from uber libs today who run Facebook and Google. I noticed recently most websites I go to come up on the Google 'home' page on my computer, not Fox News, the only thing that comes up when you search for Fox News is negative stories from the nut left.

Dodge noted. It's a simple question. Maybe you can start another thread about imagined GOP suppression of freedom of speech. I assume you have quotes from GOP House members saying the same thing as was said in the OP?

No dodge at all, because the silly post above, without any sustainable evidence, is simply an assertion of no worth other than one Dem congressman.

Look up fallacy of hasty generalization. Nah, in case you are lazy, I will do it for you.

It isn't a generalization, it is a fairly mainstream Democratic position going back to President Wilson. See https://online.hillsdale.edu/document.doc?id=318

I take the man at his word are you saying we can't take Democrats at their word? I see the Aftifa and BLM and liberal fascist shutting down conservative speech even engaging in violence to do so. Do these things escape you?

    Wow - incredibly dishonest piece.

And from Free Beacon no less!

    What did Lieu ACTUALLY say?

"I would love to be able to regulate the content of speech. The First Amendment prevents me from doing so, and that's simply a function of the First Amendment, but I think over the long run, it's better the government does not regulate the content of speech."

So pretty much the OPPOSITE of what is claimed.

I suggest actually reading RWFS clickbait before posting it.

Fascists deny that their behavior is worse than that of their political adversaries. It is all about what they claim and not what they do. Progressives would like nothing better than to put strict government enforced limitations on 1st Amendment rights.

Except he explicitly stated that the First Amendments protections are for the best, regardless of his personal tastes. But let's not let reality get in the way of fake outrage.

Which is exactly what he went on to say prevents anyone, including himself, from regulating free speech content. Adding that it's not the government's job, and shouldn't be.

Did you even watch and LISTEN to the video before running to your keyboard?

So we're to assume that he wouldn't if he had the ability? Should we not worry about others who'd like to?

Why did you cut off the part where he, instead of lamenting the Bill of Rights like you imply in the OP, did the exact opposite?
