    LIKE THE PATRIOT ACT, THERE IS NOTHING PATRIOTIC ABOUT THE RAYTHEON PATRIOT MISSILE
    Global Revolution 1: American Revolution 2: Day 24: Communication 1

    The prime contractor for the Patriot Air and Missile Defense System is Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, a component of the Raytheon Company that in 2010 banked some $14.8+ billion in U.S. military and other government contracts that we are allowed to know about:

    http://tinyurl.com/4g5dh63

    And Raytheon's Patriot missiles are not sold exclusively to defend the good ole Red, White and Blue. Any country with a wad of cash and a wink from the State Department can stockpile them, including Arab nations like Kuwait and the UAE. Osama Bin Laden's Saudi Arabia homeland, for example, just ponied up $1.7 billion for a Patriot "upgrade":

    http://tinyurl.com/3vy5lec

    Yes, this is the same Raytheon that is working on HAARP (see video below). And along with Lockheed Martin, Boeing Company, Northrop Grumman, and General Dynamics, it ranks perennially not only as a "Big 5" defense contractor (ie. war profiteer) but also as a top offender in the Federal Contractor Misconduct Database (FCMD) maintained by the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) - a toothless Washington watchdog:

    http://www.contractormisconduct.org/index.cfm

    And although historically Raytheon's false performance claims, taxpayer overcharges and contractor kickbacks have not been focused exclusively on pushing Patriots out the door, even sans irregularities the cost/benefit ratio of their flagship missile program is a real eyebrow raiser: Even using PRISON LABORERS paid as little as 23 cents an hour in their manufacture, each Patriot missile produced sports a price tag as high as $5.9 million:

    http://tinyurl.com/4bjzsbp

    Julian Zdzislaw Starostecki - the Polish-born principal designer of the original Patriot missile - was himself a prisoner in the Soviet Gulag before immigrating to America after World War II. So in a sense it would be accurate to note with irony that this icon of "freedom" was both developed and produced by prisoners. Perhaps that explains the constrained success rate of the optimistically-named "Scud Busters" in the first Bush Gulf War, when the probability of a Patriot missile (cost: $1 to $6 million) actually taking out a Scud missile (cost: $0.22 to $1 million) was only 9 percent:

    In all fairness though, we should mention that a dozen years and many billions of taxpayer dollars later the Patriot missile's targeting accuracy was significantly better in the second Bush Gulf War, although enemy identification continued to be an issue. Confirmed kills included: a British Panavia Tornado of RAF Squadron 13 and crew ... a U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet and Texas pilot Lt. Nathan Dennis White ... and perhaps dozens if not hundreds more friendlies and innocents recorded only as "Collateral Damage".

    LABELS (A POEM OF PROTEST)

    "Democrat", "Republican",
    The parties of the system;
    Puppets both, for sale their votes,
    No character or wisdom.

    "Liberal", "Conservative",
    For change or status quo?
    Pick either one, the change is none,
    All charlatans and whores.

    Far "Left" we place the Anarchists,
    Libertarians claim far "Right";
    Yet both decry the government:
    False continuum brought to light.

    For oil, "We" bomb their mud huts,
    Strip them bare, then offer "Aid";
    And fake their retribution as
    Pretext - a false flag raised.

    Unarmed hundred thousands killed
    By weapons of "Defense",
    While rights are lost for "Freedom" sake -
    On profit, all depends.

    With stroke of pen, the "Patriot" Act,
    And patriots' gifts are taken;
    Then "Citizens United" leaves
    Our citizens forsaken.

    We protest loss of liberties,
    Put "World Wide Web" to use;
    Cloudmark Authority censors us
    For "messaging abuse".

    They label us to finger-point,
    With labels, "They" deride us;
    Their labels keep us all at bay,
    For with labels, "They" divide us.

    Man so what? SAM systems are purely defensive and are perfectly okay to sell to anyone we want.

    The Russians are selling SA-10's and SA-15's on the open market, and those systems are equal or in some ways superior to the MiM-104.

    You are full of (*)(*)(*)(*) and your 9/11 trutherism sucks to. Without Raytheon we wouldn't have any hope at all against some of the new Land Attack Missle systems coming on line these days. Raytheon saves American lives with its systems. You are foolish.

    I'm pro-missile defense. In theory definitely something to key on. Like the Star Wars project. I am, I'm sure as most are, surprised even an upgraded version of the patriot missile is still in operation after the 1st Gulf War. It was the center piece of the bragging rights to homeland media, and after the truth came out, never heard much about it again. I think the most serious question on this issue is, is it the missile defense of choice for Israel? As they would know doubt purchase the best with the stakes involved in their situation. That would tell us in its own right how truly effective patriot missiles are.

    Yes, these are contracts, as you say. We give them money, they do things for us. This is called "Capitolism". These are not grants, these are not gifts. We give them money, they give us things. Like missiles, repair parts, system upgrades, and the like.

    Most of the items deliverd in these contracts are actually repair and replacement parts. Then there is the cost and expense of system replacements. These are not done for free.

    Yes, but they are also not the same systems that are sold to the United States.

    For example, Saudi Arabia. Yes, they are sold Patriot Systems. However, it is the older PAC-2 system, not the newest PAC-3. The PAC-2 is shortly going to be phased out of service in the US, because it is no longer as effective as the PAC-3 (PAC-2 is simply an upgrade of the original Patriot system, designed in 1960 and first fielded in 1981, 30 years ago).

    Germany, Kuwait, and other nations are also given degraded versions of what the US uses. They are still among the finest Air Defense systems in the world, but not as good as what a US Patriot Battalion uses.

    So yea, any nation can 'stockpile" them. As long as they want the older versions that the US is phasing out. The newest and best is still "US Only".

    OK, first of all, I suggest you actually know what you are talking about. We often joke about these incidents that you are talking about.

    For one, Lieutenant White was flying in an area he should not have been in. Over a battlefield, Missile Defense sites are placed into regions that are established as "no-fly zones", or Air Corridors. Before pilots take off on a mission, they are given a briefing, which includes the routes they are supposed to take to and from their target, and routes that they should avoid (friendly and known enemy air defense areas).

    Lt. White and his wingman flew directly over the Karbola Gap, a route in the invasion of Baghdad that was directly in the line of fire. It had been designated a Red Zone the day before, and they should never have been in that area.

    Also, it is believed that his IFF was either turned off or defective. IFF stands for "Identify Friend-Foe", and is a kind of transponder that aircraft carry that is intended to tell other fighters and missile sights that the aircraft is friendly. Lt. White's wingman was not fired on, but Lt. White was. This is because the Battery was able to identify his wingman as a friendly.

    And the RAF in the early days of the war was known for flying with their IFF turned off (they believed it would let enemy systems track them). So once again, you have friendly aircraft, flying in a known Air Defense zone, with their main defense from friendly fire turned off.

    And do you know what the difference is between a MiG-25 and an F-15 is on a RADAR screen? Or a MiG-23 and an F-111? Or a MiG-21 and an F-4?

    Let me tell you, there is none. Each is roughly the same size as the other, with almost the same flight characteristics. So when you see an incomming aircraft, without a reply of friendly from IFF and in the area of defense for the Patriot battery, they are going to shoot at it.

    And I notice, you did not even mention the incident that happened on 24 march 2003, when an Air Force F-16 fired a HARM missile at a Patriot Battery, destroying their RADAR in another friendly-fire incident.

    And if you wonder if I actually know what I am talking about, I assure you I do. My avatar photo was taken 4 years ago, at White Sands Missile Range. The same place I have spent the last 2 and a half months, working with Raytheon in doing system tests and upgrades to the Patriot missile and Radar systems of my own Battalion. So while you seem to comb your information from faulty and inaccurate web sources, this is what I do for a living.

    Here is another one, taken the same day. This is of myself, standing in front of the original Patriot launcher, built in 1960.
