I read today that there's a rise in 'nationalist' terrorism in Europe, which might explain why the French authorities would hesitate to mention ISIS - even though they have stated that they want to destroy Notre Dame.

No, not really. I think there is clearly going to be a problem if Muslim migration continues at high levels.

The problem will continue to grow even if Europe cuts in numbers coming in.

IMO, the biggest enemy of solving the Muslim problem will be other religious groups (read: Christians) objecting to the secularization of society. France, having thrown off the yoke of the Catholic Church, may be positioned well to deal with Islam. Educated people who grow up in a secular environment typically reject traditional religion, especially one as rigid as Islam.
So what? Relative to the resources required to reconstruct Notre Dame, it has plenty of Euros.

Once the sh-t hits the fan, I think the atheists and pagans will be on the side of the Christians and everyone else.

maybe, except, there are hardly any christians left in europe, it really is a dying faith, ultimately flawed by division and open hostility towards catholicism. this contemporary hostility stems from the predatory nature of the pedophiles that basically control the catholic faith with somewhat a chokehold.

    WHITE OAK
Not any oak or any oak used for lumber.

WHITE OAK fit for harvesting and creating such "beams"
as were used in Notre Dame.

And imagine the protest at harvesting them.

In those days you might travel through thick forests
for the longest time - to then see Notre Dame as, civilization.
    All those forests, gone.
Like :flagus: from the Atlantic to the Mississippi.

    Deforestation. The Euro American way.
Although the Middle East was effectively deforested since Bible times.

What on earth are you talking about? Have you been to Europe and witnessed the difficulty Muslims, particularly Muslim women, have participating in society?

Europe is the most forested continent on earth. (and the highest ratio of water/coastline to landmass) Before civilization, 90+% of Europe was all forest.

I don't think ME was lush green in the first place..

What type of oak do you thing is growing on those millions of hectares in central and eastern Europe?
    That is White Oak mostly.
They get harvested, all the time. There is a very lively industry, based around white oak, from flooring to furniture.

In those days most of Europe was cover with woods, 1000 years ago, mind you, or even 500 years ago
What do you think is growing on those millions of hectares, what type of oak.
There is a very lively white oak wood industry, in Central and Eastern Europe.

The Hagia Sophia was the most stunning architectural achievement in the world at the time. The muslims, with the help of western technology, defeated the Christians and built a few spires. No big deal. I know the Al Aqsa mosque isn't exactly an architectural first either. It pales in comparison to the cathedral that happened to burn down so close to Easter. I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering who or what.

Quebec Solidaire politician Eve Torres, who wrote of the Notre Dame fire that Allah had caused it because of France’s burqa ban, claiming that the ban had stirred up the wrath of Allah, and “here is the result!” She also made a veiled threat: “If I were (Quebec Premier François) Legault, I would have firefighters sleep in the church on Notre-Dame Street.”

Well, why would it make people rape and murder each other? Why would it make people kill each other and torture? Why would it create all the evil things in existence? There is no good answer. But, what usually gets used is something about mysterious ways that we can't understand, which of course can justify literally anything whatsoever.

I always find it amusing, almost laughable, when people say "god did this" or "god caused that"
But then I do laugh when I see them say "allah caused this" because allah is just a pagan god...
Gods cause nothing....they have no power to cause a fire...its all bullshit....

Boobquake' tests cleric's claim with cleavage
Thousands of women are being urged to show off their cleavage over the next 24 hours to test an Iranian cleric's claim that immodestly dressed women cause earthquakes.

Jennifer McCreight, a 22-year-old Purdue University student in Indiana, organized the experiment, dubbed Boobquake, to check the scientific validity of the cleric's theory.

McCreight donned the "most cleavage-showing shirt" she owns on Monday to take part in the experiment.

"I encourage other female skeptics to join me and embrace the supposed supernatural power of their breasts," McCreight wrote on her blog earlier this week. "Or [put on] short shorts if that's your preferred form of immodesty. With the power of our scandalous bodies combined, we should surely produce an earthquake."

Thousands of women have signed on to a Boobquake Facebook page, pledging to do their part for the advancement of science.

McCreight, a science major, decided to conduct the experiment after she read comments from Kazem Sedighi, a hard-line cleric in Iran.

"Many women who do not dress modestly ... lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which [consequently] increases earthquakes," Sedighi was quoted as saying by Iranian media.

The experiment aims to determine whether women's participation in Boobquake significantly increases the number or severity of earthquakes around the world, said McCreight.

"Or if an earthquake strikes West Lafayette, Ind., and only kills me, that may be good evidence of God's wrath as well (I'm not too concerned)," she wrote.

Me, too. Europeans went through two terrible wars and have worked too hard for the way of life they fashioned after 1945 to see it taken away by religious nutballs.
