It does seem so, although I know other old people who think as I do. We are all liberal/progressive(in the old sense) but also have some conservative values as well. I don't believe people like myself are purists when it comes to ideological beliefs and we tend to bend toward pragmatism, but with a moral compass to guide it.

While I think FDR was one of our best modern presidents, along with Ike and JFK, there is no way in hell I believe in all that he stood for. But he was right about unions for gov't workers. We do not need them nor should we have them. Yet I fully support unions in the private sector, unless they are corrupt as some have been over the years, leaving a bad taste in the mouths of people like me. Or demand far too much as some have done. Being greedy isn't just an affliction of some capitalist owners, but permeated unions as well, as well as corruption. Human nature unless policed with sh*t in its own bed, and history bears this out, IMO.

I am a firm believer in capitalism, and detest real deal socialism and communism. I firmly believe people who invent, innovate, improve the lives of people should be rewarded for it. It is human nature to want to reap the benefits of exemplar work and discovery. To be recognized monetarily for hard work, either of the back or of the mind. It insures the cream will continue to rise to the top of the milk bucket. It is just basic common sense, IMO, and anything that goes against this is destructive, even dangerous.

My folks, all of them were FDR democrats, JFK democrats. They believed in individual effort, and that equality of outcome is certain insanity, a very harmful insanity to our species. IMO anyone on the left who believes in such a thing, equality of outcome is a danger to society itself, and to the individual, so much so that is might as well be what an insane person would want, what an insane person would believe in. We believed in what JFK said, his famous saying that got to the root of the matter and something the post modern, neo marxists highly object to, calling it, nazi styled nazi nationalism.

We should all work to be what JFK said so long ago. Yes, great wisdom once came to us via some of our elected leaders, a wisdom that is so lacking in america today, and the state of this nation evidences that in spades, IMO. We are literally in, and have been in, a state of being disconnected from reality, so many of us, and pragmatism has seen the death knell decades ago. Along with the value and importance of the common man, the average american, and his need to be represented by those he sends to DC. This is what we have lost, completely. And this is the reason trump won the presidency, although the hillary dems will not believe it. And yet the liberal democrat Franks has written about this, spoke about it, while it falls on deaf ears, on the democrat side. Frank understand this very well, and what he has laid out is the truth, backed up by facts. Thankfully his message, his astute observations is understood by some of us old democrats and hopefully many younger ones. For unless it is, I think the corporate DP will continue to be in deep sh*t going forward. A party of irrelevance, while what trump represented, at least in his campaign is relevant and so important. Not all of his beliefs of course, but quite a few of them. I just fear that the GOP will not change and begin to represent the cast aside, forgotten americans who must work for their bread and butter, and who have relevance, even if DC ignores them, and has ignored this sizable group for decades. Sorry for the long, somewhat off topic post. It is a flaw I am affected with. ha ha. And it also comes from being retired, with no desire to travel anymore, and being here at home, alone, with only this laptop as company. ha ha. And also with very strong values and beliefs that must be expressed to the modern democrat, at least to show them how democrats once thought, and what their values were. That it goes in one ear and out the other is fine, and being called a trumpster(even when I cast my vote for sanders and later, stein) is also fine. I know what I am, whether my accusers are astute enough to recognize what I am. A pragmatic, common sense with a moral compass ex democrat that is appalled and disturbed with what happened to my party. Sold out to the upper middle class and the upper class, including parasitic big corporations and big bankers(who are too big to jail or fail) and who have to exploit the lower IQ voters, treating them as marks as any confidence man does, in order to use them for their own purposes. And their nefarious game of identity politics that seeks to divide people up caustically and destructively, all in the name of winning elections and getting power for the party.

    Ok, rant complete. ha ha.

What is lost on some is the simple fact that the US embassy had to issue a warning to its citizens IN LONDON FRIGGIN ENGLAND!

For all those who keep claiming that Trump has made America more respected in the world. Evidence from around the would put lie to that claim. Except for some reason in Russia.

I think the time has come to pull all United States troops out of Europe. That does not mean we do not help defend them, but they should be the primary defense of their land. The United States should sit back and only help other countries when there is total support with either the UN or NATO.

In an alert on Tuesday, the U.S. Embassy in London warned citizens about "numerous demonstrations" planned between Thursday and Sunday that could "attract large crowds" less than friendly to U.S. citizens.

"Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings that may become violent," the embassy said in a list of advised actions, asking Americans to "keep a low profile" and "be aware of your surroundings."

Common sense, really. Thanks a lot, Trump.

When Americans have to keep a low profile in England, you know it’s turning into a second or third world dung hole.

You realize this is just Trumpist propoganda, right? Lawabiding Americans unassociated with Trump have nothing to fear. This 'warning' is to rile up idiots like yourself.

I am not on the right and see plenty of fools on both sides. On the topic of silencing others, the left is in the lead by a big margin. As far as lies, I am not sure who is in the lead. One needs not be Republican to be entertained by Liberal tears.

Its nothing new that Americans are being advised to keep a low profile in LONDON ENGLAND?

I am well aware of the "ugly american" "Yankee go home" era. I lived thru it, albeit as a young tad for most of it.

The same college campus that had a pro-Hillary/anti-Trump rally where staff participated told a student who was handing out copies of the constitution that he had to go to the "free speech zone" or the police would be called.

If you had a strong message, why would you need to silence others?

Except for a few lowbrainers that exist all over the world, you can already distinguish between America and Trump as a person ... even though Trump is the supreme representative of the United States.

Since Trump has defied the Europeans and is constantly beating Europe (which includes the UK georgraphically) and the EU is constantly lying to lies and has also declared the trade war, it is not advisable with an "I love Trump Cap" walking around or cheering the idiot.

Even the Upper Brexit King and former Foreign Secretary of the UK - Boris Johnson - hates Trump.

    Any wondering about this?

Trump only concedes exactly the reactions and the respect he deserves with his own behavior ...

    Sure

Many Brit flower children were outraged by the Voetnam War or reagans decision to deploy intermediate range missiles in europe during the 1980s

Have you ever heard of the book “The Ugly American?”

It dates back to the 1950s

You have guessed wrong again. If you are doing the stomping, you are the fascist! "We're against fascism and will force you to agree!"

If you have to force your message on others, maybe your message is worthless!
