A lot of people thought the Black Death was the wrath of God, which a face covering full of flower petals and herbs isn't going to prevent you from catching, and some did notice from the symptoms of the pneumonic flu associated with the Black Death that it was indeed a respiratory ailment, nevertheless the fact remains that some people thought face coverings would save them from whatever was floating around in the air and the reality is that they were wrong, just as face coverings haven't prevented people from catching and transmitting the WuFlu.

I hope this doesn't make you fly off the handle as well, but earlier I mentioned that people's instincts did serve them well in keeping a distance from the sick and the dead, which along with better hygienic practices were probably the only effective preventative measures against the Black Death at the time.

If you can't understand how masks can aid in modern hygienic measures, you aren't willing or able to discuss facts. Trying to scramble and change the subject to a few centuries ago with a completely different disease in a pathetic attempt to avoid talking about objective reality isn't going to work. Sorry, no one is dumb enough to fall for that. Some of us value reality over the taste of Trump's boot, as alien as that may seem to some.

Thank you for clarifying. So you weren't off target, you were just wrong. Masks did not protect you from Bubonic plague but they do help protect you from airborne diseases.

Is it ironic that hard lockdown states with hard line mandates have a higher covid infection rates per capita than states with the lowest mandates?

Ironic or due to other factors like population density.
I could argue that states with very low populations got away with it despite not wearing masks.

You could argue that the moon is made of green cheese, but it would not be persuasive.

The masks are a symbol of submission to fear and superstition. Here in the US they are now becoming a very large litter problem. Litter of potential biohazard disease carrying trash, thanks to government mismanagement.

Are you saying its not
Yeah sure they are. All those South Koreans, Chinese, scientists, doctors, all living in fear and superstition. Hmm definitely.

~ It may be that lockdowns, mask mandates and social distancing requirements are effective in limiting virus cases, but strangely they do not reduce deaths.
I suspect when you take into account the spikes in suicide rates during pandemic { in Idaho, for example } , kids out of school increases in unemployment and poverty they do more harm than good .

~ This is the most overlooked issue - virus do not only travel on large droplets.

▶ The science, according to the CDC, says that surgical masks won’t stop the wearer from inhaling small airborne particles, which can cause infection.

I just wanted to highlight the insanity of our public health "experts" over the past year. Aren't you in the least curious as to how the "science" changed so radically over the past year without being backed up by any studies or research? It's almost as if science had nothing to do with the messaging and we have simply bombarded by politically expedient messages by bureaucracies.

Asymptomatic infection is a myth created by Fauci & Friends. Frightened and gullible people often buy into that myth.

I would be if there had been no studies or research, but scientists have looked at little else for the last year.

So what was the state of the science when that tweet by the WHO was sent?

That respiratory viruses are not infectious until the victim begins to show symptoms.

So prior to this year, people believed the flu could not be transmitted until someone shows symptoms but now we know that the flu can be transmitted even if there are no symptoms?

Sorry, but the only mask that's going to save you from airborne illnesses is the mask that's so air resistant that you'll suffocate from wearing it.

No, we know that this is particular to Covid. That water droplets from those who have show no symptoms of Covid still contain high levels of the virus. In this they differ from Flu in which the viral count is much lower when the victim is not unwell.

Again, the mask is to stop you infecting others, not the other way round. It stops many of the droplets you breathe out from moving freely into the air. It doesn't stop them all or on every occasion, but it does reduce them and that's how the war is fought.

I don't know what British science says, but the CDC says that asymptomatic transmission is very, very low:

This apparent lack of transmission is consistent with recent research (5), which found an asymptomatic attack rate of only 0.7% within households and a lower rate of transmission from children than from adults.

Science says otherwise. The virus primarily travels through exhaled droplets, which masks can easily retard without suffocating you. You do realize that there is a reason that doctors wear masks, right? Did you think they did it for fun?

When is a COVID-19 patient the most contagious?
    1. For individuals with confirmed COVID-19 who developed symptoms, consider the exposure window to be 2 days before symptom onset through the time period when the individual meets criteria for discontinuation of Transmission-Based Precautions
    2. For individuals with confirmed COVID-19 who never developed symptoms, determining the infectious period can be challenging. In these situations, collecting information about when the asymptomatic individual with COVID-19 may have been exposed could help inform the period when they were infectious.

For everything they retard, they collect, and it gets collected in their mask. Better to stand outdoors with no mask, than indoors with one.
