Eygpt has one of the largest rivers on the planet and Iraq had the Euphrates and the Tigris, both civilizations crowded the rivers and that essentially where they still are today, the deserts region on either side of those rivers are empty wastelands...what river does california have that it hasn't used to the max? ...deserts aren't for living in without plentiful water...

Common sense should be telling people to leave California which has done nothing but suffer ne natural disaster after another for God only knows how many years now.First they have earthquakes then years of drought, then wind driven fires and now too much rain, one thing after another, maybe it's God's way of telling them get out before the really big quake.Florida and much of the low lying East coast is also in dire danger of ocean flooding as tides rise.Anyone thinking of relocating should avoid these states.

And the Louisiana Alabama areas are sinking and there's a fear of a quake at the New Madras fault that will destroy Saint Louis, Nashville and who knows, maybe even Chicago. If it's bad enough Lake Michigan will empty into the river, and turn it into the Mississippi straits. Then of course there's the Seattle area that gets a major earthquake and tidal wave every 250 years. It's 50 years overdue.

All one can do is pray that you won't be in the wrong place at the wrong time. As for earthquakes, make sure you have all the basics you need by the door so you can grab it when you run out. As for the fires, they started at hot spots in the earth near volcanoes. Things are heating up all over.

Why do you keep evading my question?

"What does this have to do with Mexico "... sending us all their "brown" ones" ?"

To begin: by what process are the Mexicans separating all their "brown" ones?

You do realize that the vast majority of California is not a desert, right?

"All sunshine makes a desert" say the Arabs and that is true but all you need is water and the desert will bloom. Californians don't need a river, they have made their own, much like the Israelis did with the Negev. California is America's jewel and conservatives are doing their best to **** all over it because it didn't go for Trump in 2016,

If you look at the percent of income that does to state and local taxes, it is 9.5% in California and 8.5% nationally. That is only 1% of income. For a family earning $50,000, that is about $500. If we factor in cost of living being $500 per month higher in California (some cities are over $1,500 per month higher), than other states, that is $6,000 per year.

It would probably be 47% if you didn't count all the people over 50 years of age.

Mexico isn't capable of taking care of it's own people so Mexico uses America as a pressure valve whereas Mexico sends it's losers and bad hombres to America to relive pressure off of of Mexico's responsibilities to its citizens.

    True story.

Back when the L.A. County Sheriff's Department use to patrol the streets of Compton there were two deputy sheriffs, one white deputy and one black deputy.

(White Deputy) "Have you noticed that every day there are more and more Hispanics on the streets ?"

(Black deputy) "Yeah, I've noticed the same thing...There gores the neighborhood."

I remember not to long ago when Hispanics (mostly Mexicans) made up 7% of California's population.

One has to wonder what happened and who in government failed to protect America's culture, customs, traditions, language and the ethnic makeup of the nation ?

Or who lied to the American people and why did they lie ?

Please back up your statements with facts because you post false information quite frankly and when asked for citations you either post irrelevant articles are don't reply..

    It's mostly anecdotal accounts.
My dad grew up in Southern California and tells me he remembers growing up and in 2nd grade they had a Mexican boy in his class. It was a real novelty. The Mexican boy brought tortillas in his lunch and all the other kids had peanut butter sandwiches. By the time he got to high school there were more Mexican kids, who all sat at their own separate tables, and some of them used to get into fights with the skater kids. Then there were more and more Mexicans and pretty soon almost all the schools in the city were majority Hispanic and most of their parents didn't speak English. (It probably reached the tipping point in about 1989) Also there used to be a big Black neighborhood in the city but they pretty much disappeared.

Several weeks back a poster from San Leandro commented in the same manner. My hunch is that bedroom communities surrounding San Francisco/ LA were basically Anglo in the 1950's. My childhood was in the Central valley so my classmates were Mexican/ Filipino/ Chinese/ mostly Anglos. What I have witnessed living in LA for most of my life is a huge influx of Asians [esp in San Gabriel valley].

The big influx of Asians is mostly recent, maybe the last 10 or 15 years.

Although many Vietnamese had already come in the 70s because of the Vietnam War, and the American government promising to protect those who had fought for the American side from Communist retaliation.
(Interesting that the Democrats didn't want those Vietnamese at that time, see thread here)

It's complicated because California is getting all sorts of big waves of different people from different parts of the world.
