Man, I miss the American music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, even 90s - the music that made America great and helped win the Cold war. I turn on the radio today and it's just that silly crap again and again - "whining"/"gay" young man or masculine female singers like Adele.
And frankly, they don't have the voice to sing - they are too plain.

And used to be so good.

Where are the Carpenters, the Crusaders, the Franky Beverlies, the Frank Sinatras, the Michael Jacksons, the Barry Whites, the Whitney Houstons, the Mariah Careys of America today?

I'd love to see American music great again. :rock_slayer:

There's no such thing as country music anymore. It's just pop/rap for the most part. I stopped listening even though it was my favorite before this pop crap. Now I don't listen to music. I listen to ESPN podcasts.

No kidding. Kansas, Boston, old school heavy metal, it's all gone. I think digital media has done to music what the printing press has done to literature. Back when books were expensive to own and produce, only the best got their stuff published. When books could be produced cheaply, the authors that were easiest to digest became the best sellers. Today people who can't even play instruments, or sing, or come up with clever lyrics are the money makers. That's why they call them "artists" now and not musicians. Anybody can be an artist, but it takes skill to be a musician.

I'm a big fan of music between the 15th and 17th century however I love artists like scott Joplin.

I think the problem globally is the lack of technique and work . Singing need technique, training. Lyric singers trains everyday 4 or 5 hours.

What's the difference between a great singer and an average singer ? A gift, it's something related to luck. But their is something not related to luck, it's a lot of hard work. Because a gift not developped with hard work is useless. A gift is like the seed of a tree, if you want to get a tree, you will need a lot of patience, attention, time.

If you love more famousness and money than music, the music you produce can't be good.
