What is "American Culture"? What culture is dominant in America?

 

I would. Just look at the shitholes in Africa and South America. Left to their own devices, the majority of them tend to devolve.

I don't think you're a racist, and I'll tell you why using a hypothetical.

Supposing all Mexicans and Central and South Americans were as white as snow. Not a single brown skinned person among them, but their first language was Spanish, and their culture was different. If they immigrated to the U.S. you would expect them to assimilate to our language and culture, and you would resent it if they didn't. In this case, race is irrelevant. So in reality, it's not their brown skin that bothers you, it's the ones who don't assimilate that bother you. That is not racism.

As for black people, you are intelligent and informed. You know that many black people are peaceful and productive people. But you are also aware of the crime statistics. We all do things on a daily basis to minimize risk to ourselves - like buckling a seat belt, eating right, not smoking, not being drug addicts, etc. Nor would you choose to take a walk with your family in south Chicago or a poor neighborhood in St Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, or New Orleans. That is not racism. That is simply reducing your risk based upon cold hard statistics.

 

It is not racist to expect people who immigrate here to learn the language and assimilate into the culture.

 

If our culture is "freedom", why does that not include the freedom to speak in whatever the hell language anybody wants?

 

What culture? What is our culture? A Mexican who eats Mexican Enchiladas crosses the border, and he happily eats Texan Enchiladas. So what culture did they not assimilate into?

We don't have a culture. We have hundreds of cultures. And that has always been our strength.

 

Nobody creates a racist for very long.

I assume that you are not a 12 year old. Adulthood is about holding yourself accountable for your views and the consequences of them on your own life and that of others. If you are a racist, its probably because that is what you want to be.

By the way, it is none of your business if a Hispanic learns English or 'assimilates'. Its their life, not yours. I suggest they speak whatever language they damn well choose consistent with their goals, not yours or mine. If they want me to understand them, however, it better promotes their cause if they learn English. Stop turning it into some duty, or obligation. ​

 

If a non-white person posted some anecdotes as to why they distrust or dislike whites, would you care enough to criticize them in an equally pretentious manner?

The answer is no.

The next question is why anyone should care about what you have to say.

Am i 'racist' for having a Confederate flag on my wall and temporarily removing it when I invited a black business owner into our home to give us an estimate on our roof and recommending him to my landlord after seeing their good work, next door?

If deficiencies in education make people racist, then by your own admission the vast majority of blacks are racists. Are you going to crawfish and somehow spin that inner-city schools are just as good as those in the suburbs....you know, the ones with the white kids?

Or were you referring to the talent at CNN and MSNBC? After all, they've branded half of the country as racists.

Have you ever talked about American blacks with African blacks? You will discover that real Africans don’t like American blacks. Are they racist too?

 

The US does have a culture.
Comfort foods. Smiling to strangers. A little bit of passive aggressive behavior. Westerns, cowboys, canned beans, peanut butter. Country music. Those come just from the top of my head.
And learning English is a must for all foreigners. If they don’t, they reduce themselves to dishwashers and barbacks. Their own laziness punishes them.

I think that is called prejudice...which is not racism.

 

It's a bizarre notion that culture boils down to language, food, and funny hats.

You are not racist you are prejudiced. Racist believe their race is superior while prejudice is a preconceived notions of how people will behave based on race

 

If you feel you must take something in your house down when an African American is present, you might want to think about having it up at all.
