A man has been arrested due to a short video he posted on Instagram.
He was released on $250,000 bail.

It is alleged that the video constituted an implied threat.
The video merely shows another man firing a gun with a caption identifying a Jewish center.

Police searched his home and found several guns, body armor and a gas mask.
Police say they also found "white nationalist" material.

The 20 year old's name was James Reardon. He was arrested in New Middletown, and the Jewish Center was in Youngstown, nearby.

Reardon was charged with "menacing and harassment".

This brings up the legal issue of exactly what can be construed to constitute a "threat", and the increasing phenomena of people being arrested for posting videos.

New Middletown Police Chief Vince D'Egidio said that he believed Reardon was implying through the video that he was going to be identified as the shooter of the Jewish center. That kicked off a very intensive investigation.

While the investigation and arrest may be understandable, it's not entirely clear that the defendant actually did anything illegal.

As part of the terms of the bail release, the judge ordered that Reardon not be allowed to use social media.

Instagram, Facebook, Social Media, is a menacing, novel, Misuse of our internet and our lives! To hell with every founder of all of them, not that I have used their products with slight personal pleasure or involvement. The internet isn't even meant to be competitive with the phone or the e-mail in regards to person-to-person communication. What's more, the permanent informational Tool available from the top and to each user, of the internet, is never meant to be taken as a means of effects upon the user, first in assuming reasonable harm communicated by it or reasonable intent to communicate TO any user by publishing to it. Its a tool for protected users in the same way USRB can't rate your online interactions so you go to great lengths to choose to access a tool of information for your own misuse. If that man were meaning to threaten that place then contact the synagogue.

If I might add, the police must have Felt like it. I have it on authority from My police station, they do not have Any resources tied to the questionable behavior of prostitution solicitation or finding out if craigslist or any of that is in their jurisdictions, or investigating any sort of online activity, for place, time, intent and purpose, so someone in this instance must have wanted to take a normally uninvestigable instance of online postings with no real life evidence about the persons behind the internet avatars, and wanted to find cause. Online advertisement on craigslist of a crime with names dates, and times , and checking if that would create a casefile against me is a NO.

I had more to say than I could Edit, unfortunately. Where has anyone taken the time to explain to me this ridiculous phrase "White Nationalist". Someone who heard that ridiculous phrase "White Nation" their whole lives I assume. Nationalism is from World War One Europe where every Nation mutually exclusive to each other is better than the other Nations. Not that the Nations live in harmony, peace, equitable understanding and transferrable respect, but that Nationalism made each feel better than the other. That's the understanding on the peace settlement League of Nations to end World War one.

Donald Trump is a confused ignorant idiot as if he could be an example of anything much less this "White Nationalist" thing no one has taken any time to explain, whatsoever. If I were a White Nationalist which is 99% acceptable in this country, then I'm a white person that is proud of the United States of America without detriment to its internal Citizens. That would be the first glance definition.

If I were a White person trying to make a different Nation, of an ethno-centric Origin, that is as extremist as the rest of this topic.

When you see the hundreds of real threats and actual violence ignoredby police and encouraged by lefties liberals there is no way i can support the action taken by police against this guy.
