An oh (*)(*)(*)(*) moment. Cut off your own hand as a means to make money. What is this world coming to?

You have got to be nuts to agree to hack your own hand off just for a few hundred grand. The guy must be mentally unstable.

There are money-hungry brain-dead morons all over.... poorly written article - it only focused on Hardin - what about the other 2 guys who participated, including the one who agreed to give up a hand for $? my guess is that poor schmuck was mentally challenged and the other 2 took advantage of him...

No one w/a normal IQ would agree to that......

I wonder how many people can name a price for their hand? Clearly, you can manage life with one hand. So what's it worth?

This kind of reminds me of a tv show I once saw. Two guys made a pact. First they both took out large policies on themselves making the other one the beneficiary. The they made a pact , the first guy said OK, I'll cut your head off today and collect on your policy and tomorrow you cut off my head and collect on my policy. Guess which one was the dumbest.

Nope not a true story as far as I know. It was an old tv program that I saw many years ago.
