Penny wise and pound foolish.
Maybe they were following after Portland and defunding the police.
Mostly through federal funding, especially to the states.
The federal government can make body cams a condition of federal funding, but that's not a mandate.
Ok. Semantics. But body cameras are overwhelmingly supported by the public, so federal funding and public pressure should be able to get cameras on nearly every cop.
Why federal funding? If Seattle wants to defund the cops, I'm not paying for their body cams. Screw that. Locals need to pay for their own wishes. If Seattle decides they want to allocate $0 to the police, like BLM want, does that mean I need to pay for their police force, too?
One cannot support the push to defund law enforcement, while simultaneously holding that law enforcement should be equipped with body cameras. It is one or other. Either pay to maintain law enforcement, or take away money from law enforcement. Pick one side, and one side only.
It's not. If the platform says "mandate", as you suggested, then they mean to -force- states to equip their officers with body cams.
The argument against this, as you asked, should be obvious.
You can't mandate something without funding. And if you Defund The Police - don't expect body cams.
And don't expect me to pay for another jurisdiction's body cams when they're not willing to pay for it themselves.
Sure you can - unfunded mandates abound.
THE SOCIAL MEDIA VIRUS HATES AMERICA AND WORKS TO SOW HATE AND DIVISION IN THE AMERICAN PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY THINK IT MIGHT DRAG BIDEN/HARRIS ACROSS THE FINISH LINE: Kenosha Burns, Shaun King Pushes More Violence, On Twitter. Jack Does Nothing.

Shaun King, one side's favorite rhetorical arsonist guy reacted to violence in Kenosha Wisconsin by pushing even more violence.
Vile Hate Merchant Shaun King is pushing the violence in the situation before the evidence is in hand.

Explain to us civilized folks @jack why is it that @shaunking is allowed to insight violence, threaten citizens, make racist remarks and his account hasn’t been completely banned. I am a legal latino immigrant with actual Taino & African roots and I find this despicable.[/quote]
America knows who wants violence division and looting, and who wants peace, security, safety, prosperity and love for ALL the American People
Mandate in one hand and.... do something in the other, lol.
Liberal CBSN aired a 911 call earlier in which the caller states that he took a woman's keys, and he wouldn't give them back. So at least one call was placed on Blake.
Earlier in the thread there is a screenshot enlargement that shows an object which at least appears to be a knife.
The video in the post I quote below is an excellent example of how allowing a noncompliant suspect, after grappling with them, to reach into his car can get an officer killed.
Thank you for this video. It was difficult to watch, but it really puts these kinds of situations in perspective.
There is the "chance", yes. There is also a chance for a lot to go wrong if the cop attempted to grapple with him when he turned his back. CBSN reported that there were children in the car. The cop had his gun out. He would have had to holster it in order to grapple with a man that he apparently thinks has a knife. It would have been irresponsible for him to grapple with the gun out considering children were in the car.
I totally agree. You would think in the current climate that expediency in the release of information that the public are entitled to would be of the highest priority. I know there is an investigation, but at least some information could be released, especially if the state or federal government would rush to provide assistance in the public relations aspect at a minimum, if not the investigation.
Again there is an enlargement earlier in the thread which shows something that could be construed as a knife.
It's not a death penalty; it is self defense. See the video I quoted above to understand why. After watching, consider the following:
1. It is likely he had a history of illegally concealed weapons and/or assaults on police.
2. The cops think he has a knife (from the audio of videos posted earlier), regardless of whether he actually had one.
3. It is likely he had a warrant for his arrest.
4. At least one 911 call implicated Blake as a suspect who stole a woman's keys to her car.
5. He is noncompliant, after apparently being tazed (from witness links posted earlier), and after grappling with cops (seen in the beginning of videos posted earlier and also heard in witness links posted earlier).
6. There were children in the car. We don't know right now if the officers knew they were his children.
If there were children in the car, as reported, and the cops didn't know they were Blake's children, and they thought he was attempting to flee with the children, this heightens the tension in the situation dramatically. Who had custody? What did the cops know?
It doesn't matter who you are or what you stand for. The angry racist mob will burn everything in its path.
So its a maybe there's a knife..... ok
Yeah, I don't understand why he didn't just stop and raise his hands. I just don't get it.
I want to know what happened to cause the officers to want to arrest a guy who was trying to break up a domestic dispute.
What happened and what people say are often 2 different things. Michael Brown was a gentle giant who was about to register for college. Seattle and Portland are having peaceful protests while stores loot themselves and government building are having problems with spontaneous combustion.
All we can do is wait for the truth to come out and do what is necessary to prevent further loss of life and property.
None of what you said in items 1-6 of your response to my post warrants shooting the guy in the back.
Did they have a chance to Taze the eFer again?
Having a warrant for arrest does not authorize the Wild West action of Wanted Dead or alive.
So now Cops think he had a knife" is authorization to execute a suspect without a trial?
"Likely" Having a history of concealed weapons online does not call for a summary execution. More info is needed here.
The fact that there were children in the car he was headed to is the one and only possibity that deadly force should be used. I will allways protect kids over some potential criminal.
Why do you believe a police officer shooting someone equates to a judicial sentence?
In a legal justified shooting it is not. There is something very wrong with the way this case went down. If there are fact s out there to justify what that officer did Inwant those facts made public as soon as they can legally and safely be disclosed.
Nope. I can have both. Less cops, each with a body cam.
You don't know enough about this shooting to know if it was legally justified, and even if you did, you aren't the person who makes that decision.
Yet, you use terms like "death penalty" and "execute",
Why less cops? They're stretched thin already in lots of places, meaning officers are tired and overworked.
Quality humans make a good police force, not body cams.
They're working on it:
Separate names with a comma.
