We're way too short on facts to make a judgment here.
At first glance it appears the shooting was unjustified, but there are several possibilities that would warrant the shooting. You don't know that the cop shot him for the sole reason of not complying.
Fix the incompetence of police. They have been getting worse at their jobs over the years.
Yes and no to the obey thing.
And I'm waiting for more info as well.
Re: Obey, nobody suggests non compliance = shooting. Most suggest non compliance = increased likelihood of shooting. That's been an overused/confusing discussion point for a long time. If it was an immediate death sentence there would be 100,000 shootings not 1,000.
What is it with some cops? The video does look ugly. When will democrats agree that public unions kill people?
You forgot to add he was going into his vehicle and clearly disobeying officers. Was there a weapon in the vehicle?
Hard to say at this point. Definitely need more information. Does not look good, but the guy was also resisting and walking quite fast which only escalates the situation.
5 years earlier, apparently there was. Allegedly, the cops found it near the driver seat of his SUV after arresting him for brandishing an illegally concealed weapon in a bar.
Did this cop know this? If so then it COULD lean toward a justified shooting. But it depends on what the cop saw in the vehicle, what the perp was saying at the time etc.
Kenosha seems like any other Democratic party controlled city. Are democrats not getting the memo somehow?? This is what I just consistently don't get. These folks are being abused in mostly northern democratic party controlled areas. How can those in power allow this to continue to happen?
Who would defend this? And more, why do you not call out the democrats who run the place?
We have very few facts here and only people jumping to conclusions! Yet, so many have these police officers tried and convicted already!
I would if the cop knew about his prior concealed weapon incident, his alleged (it's difficult to find a straight answer on his criminal history right now) assault(s) on cops, and/or he was making threats as he was walking.
Lot of ifs, and my gut says unjustified. But I'm not going to go out and burn the city on my gut.
What are you, some kind of radical rationalist? Being rational is old hat, don't you know that? Only fuming vitriol is to be regurgitated! Reasoned argumentation will not be admitted! (Psst...don't tell anyone, but I agree one hundred percent with your post.)
To be fair, this is a question for the courts. As you suggest, there are a lot of "ifs" here. So, to me, there really is nothing to defend. What seems to be the problem are members of a public union who feel entitled to conduct their business this way, and a political party who runs the city that enable it.
Has the riot started yet?
Can you tell if there is a gun in the vehicle? No! Then neither could the officers. It is clear that this man is refusing to follow the police officers orders. For all we know at this point, the children in the vehicle might have been kidnapped. All we know is that the officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute, and the man was fleeing the officers. Yes, you can flee at a slow or walking speed. Remember the OJ slow moving car chase?
Wait for the details before you claim that this was unjustified.
Fix the radicals infesting the Dem Party looting and burning cities and mugging and murdering in the name of justice. To absolutely nobody's surprise Kenosha is now going up in flames courtesy of the radical and murderous minded belonging to the nation's political Left.
Oh . . . and also to absolutely nobody's surprise the city is controlled by the Dem Party and -- yes -- has stood down police so that the violent radical leftists can do whatever the hell they want to the city and its citizens:
I do not know about others on this thread. I have not read all of the comments. I think the police should use necessary violence for those who disobey them. If they do not like the way the police treat them, they can tell their story to the judge. If the police kill them I do not care. They were probably trash.
I have been stopped and frisked by the police on several occasions. When this happens I move slowly, keep my hands in sight, and speak respectfully.
I have only been beaten up by policemen once. They broke several of my ribs. I lost a week's work for which I was not compensated, and a contact lens. It's a long story, but they probably thought I was someone else. They left me alone after looking at my drivers' license. We all make mistakes. I know I have.
Leaving the fact he was was resisting their lawful orders and refused to stop, opened the car door and started to reach in.....
Why did you leave out those pertinent facts?
Geez you can't even get it straight he is not dead, how could it be murder? He was being order to comply with the officers. He turned his back started to leave and refused to stop. He opened a car door and reached in. That'll get you shot. Why are you trying to defend it?
I've noticed that nearly all leftist chronic critics of the police have themselves NEVER been in the military and have absolutely no idea whatsoever regarding the realities of either military life or policing. All vast numbers among them seem to comprehend is the Marxism they were taught in college and their feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelings.
....and present a threatening situation.
You left out that part.
And the usual left wing haters will defend the criminal omit the facts and claim they can disobey lawful orders and use weapons against police.
Fact he refused their lawful orders, attempted to flee, opened a car door and reached in. What more do we need?
We'd all like to know, I'm sure, whether he had a gun in the vehicle he was attempting to get into. Like he did the PREVIOUS time he was arrested.
People forget that police actually KNOW some of the people they're arresting, because they've arrested them before. Jacob pulled a gun in a bar previously, while drunk, and resisted arrest previously, among his other crimes including alleged sexual assault.
Separate names with a comma.
