Man injured after officer involved shooting in Kenosha

I saw 3 cops in the video.
All with guns out. That is escalating the situation. Before he even got to the vehicle.

 

Seems like a trained office should be able to handle a suspect walking away from them without putting bullets in their back.

 

Being armed and reaching for another weapon is.

The criminal escalated when he refused to drop the knife and reached into the car.

 

They didn't try to stop him, 3 cops I see, all with weapons drawn. Tackle him, hand cuff him. Before he gets to vehicle.

 

Seems the officers had plenty of opportunities to use less than lethal force. Wonder why they didn’t.

 

Seems like a suspect should obey the commands of the police and not try to flee or grab a weapon even when they are already holding one.

 

Did he have a knife? Tackle a guy with a knife, right?

 

Agreed, but it shouldn’t come with a death sentence if avoidable. This one looked avoidable.

Why did the officers not deescalate, to include incapacitating the suspect, prior to the point where they felt they needed to shoot. Looked doable to me.

He was armed with a knife, they are not obliged to use a TASER against an armed criminal trying to flee and going for another weapon. And you don't just pull a Taser and fire it and

I think both sides can agree that it would be very irresponsible for the police to allow him to leave in that vehicle with children in it, after refusing to comply, brandishing a knife, and a warrant out for his arrest.

 

You don't try to tackle someone HOLDING A KNIFE.................DUH.

 

If you were armed, would you let someone else kill you and/or a member of your family?

The victim in this incident was beyond stupid. He had a history of violence and the cops had every reason to believe that their lives were in danger.

Yep, agree with that. It’s a shame they didn’t take one of the many opportunities to deploy less than lethal force before resorting to shooting though.

 

Where are the social workers when you need them?

 

They were, they ordered him to drop the knife and comply with the arrest. The suspect refused turned his back opened the door to the car and any reasonable person would view him as reaching for a gun.

All he had to do was comply with the officers lawful orders. Seems doable to me.

 

Or, you know, taser his ass.
