    You are mistakenly implying that due process and a high-paid lawyer mean justice will be done.
    What you are bringing up is just a red herring and has nothing to do with the issues we are discussing.

    No. Im suggesting the court backlogs that keep people imprissoned for long periods of time while they await trial are intentional to incentivize plea deals.

    That may play some part. It's not that hard to accept a plea deal for 3 years when you've already been in prison for 2 years after being arrested for that crime!

    Or he didn't want to risk a trial, and was told he was looking at 50 years in prison if convicted.
